Mentions possibility that asteroid impacts, occurring in the early solar system, could have shifted material, and microbial life, between Earth and Mars.

If I'm remembering correctly, this was the first successful Proton launch to solar orbit since Vega 2 in 1984. Phobos 1 and 2 boosted themselves into solar orbit after successful Proton launches put them in elliptical Earth orbits in 1988. The Mars 96 mission was left stranded in LEO after a Blok D-2 upper stage failure in 1996.
Amazing it's been so long, especially considering how many beyond-earth-orbit missions Proton performed during its early years.
