Houston provided an update to the crew (presumably the pickup) but I missed it.

Just throw in my congratulations to SpaceX and to NASA as well for supporting commercial space that enabled it to happen. SpaceX nailed another splashdown too; I was again impressed at the proximity of the photo from the recovery vessel.

With Dragon now on a par with ATV & HTV, I think we can say that "the food and the laundry" is pretty much taken care of!  ;)

And just for visualization fun here is that location on Google Maps:

PSA #1:  Suppress forum auto-embed of Youtube videos by deleting leading 'www.' (four characters) in YT URL; useful when linking text to YT, or just to avoid bloat.
PSA #2:  Users who particularly annoy you can be suppressed in forum view via Modify Profile -> Buddies / Ignore List.  *** See profile for two more NSF forum tips. ***

Recovery ship track now shows it was spot on the correct latitude after running a south/north/south holding pattern, then turned due east to rendezvous.

So the "error" , if it can even be called error, was entirely east-west.

Bigger version

EDIT: Even bigger version...

I calculate a distance for this shot at 9,100m +/- about 10%.

I calculate a distance for this shot at 9,100m +/- about 10%.

For comparison, delta between splashdown position and ship's position reported approx 1 hr before splashdown was about 4 nmi, or about 7-8 km, so 9 km is in the same ballpark, but probably on the high side...

A similar picture of a Progress or ATV open hatch would have about enough room for only their heads  :D
