SpaceX PAO:
One thruster pod is running. Two are preferred to take the next step which is to deploy the solar arrays.  We are working to bring up the other two in order to plan the next series of burns to get to station.

"The other two?" Elon said there were four total..

Think it's implying you only need 3/4 to get to Station.

Does this mean that one of the original three inhibited pods is now online?

He means that 1 is working now, they'll bring up another (2 total) to deploy solar arrays, then "bring up the other 2" (up to 4 total).

Orbital mechanics question: How does delayed (knock on wood) firings affect rendvz?

If they miss their first firing, which IIRC was ~2.5 hours after launch, the rendezvous would probably take a lot longer.

You agree with the press kit, which states:
DRAGON ON-ORBIT OPERATIONS AND APPROACH TO STATION
Hour/Min/Sec Events
0:11 Start sequence to deploy solar arrays
2:26 Start GNC (guidance and navigation control) bay door deployment—this door holds sensors
necessary for rendezvous. Coelliptic burn places Dragon in a circular orbit

NASA commentary updates have been limited to tweet and SPACEX PAO inputs--nothing from the NASA side.

Info flow is definitely different when a private company is running the show...

Thruster pod 3 tank pressure trending positive. Preparing to deploy solar arrays.

Offline Chris Bergin

Wow you're fast, Bastro :)

That sounds like good news. Waiting for array deploy.

Is tank pressurization an indication that an inhibit has been removed?

I think it's an indication that they can remove the inhibit.

Trending positive means that the reading is increasing, probably from zero. My guess is the sensor was reading zero pressure and now the averaged value is increasing to nominal value...

I think it's an indication that they can remove the inhibit.

I got the impression that he was going to send a manual override command and start the thruster system.

GOOD NEWS!

Offline Chris Bergin

That's good news. So that looks like they have two pods working and now have array deploy.

Yes. Buys them extra time to resolve the thruster issue.

yeah, but what's up with the thrusters?  this is the core issue...  (the panels weren't broken in any way, deployment was just inhibited)
