Looks like it's either a late night or an early morning for me.

Might have to set the alarm clock.  :)

Good luck to ULA! I wish I could watch it in person.

chuck - Toilet paper has no real value? Try living with 5 other adults for 6 months in a can with no toilet paper. Man oh man. Toilet paper would be worth it's weight in gold!

Also, the fix must not be urgent since they've known about this behavior for years, but waited until now to address it.  So either they thought of some new way it might induce a failure, or (more likely IMO) either some customer (or management) insisted they fix it, analysis be damned, just because it looks scary.

Or it only makes sense to do this now because the RS-68A provides you with enough margin that that RS-68 did not.

This launch also marks the moment that the big bird TM launched on the very last Titan rocket is about to be replaced (as calculated by satellite observers). It's been almost 8 years since the end of one of America's mainstay rockets....

Or maybe the RS-68A makes the problem worse.  If portions of the flow path were enlarged to support the higher thrust, it might dump more hydrogen during the cool-down sequence.

Can we assume no RS-68A until EFT-1?

Edit: I forgot to type no.  :-[

Note to self: take Jim's (old status) advice and read first instead of shooting from the hip.

So that means there is sufficient margin for this on this flight.  I know we're deep in scuttle-butt-land here, but was this payload previously designed to fly on a Titan but that was retired and so it got a ride on the Delta IV-H?

As far as I can remember only once has this type of payload allegedly flown on the Shuttle.

Assuming the alleged Misty payload is a derivative of this alleged payload. All alleged KH-11 payloads have flown on Titan 3D,34D,IV,and Delta Heavy.

There's that black and white, night and day in the spy vs. spy patch again...

Jim, thanks for the info on the RS-68

That's the alleged payload I was thinking of the alleged stealth version of the alleged KH-11.

Indeed, thanks for the info on RS-68.  I must have missed the ULA announcement about no more A until 2015.  Is it true that RS-68A will be featured on the D-IVH and the RS-68 inventory will be flown out on the M versions come 2015?
