I've heard that the backup crew at some point takes a shot of champaigne which makes them unfit for flight so committing the prime crew for flight.

Another launch video; this one from Roscosmos with reporter Natalya Burtseva.
We even join the crew in the elevator to the top of the launch platform, plus the start of boarding (I've not seen this before).

The video continues with a simulated rescue operation in the event of a (launch) mishap.
