Wasn't automated flight the original plan by one or more of the Commercial Crew folks, with the astronaut override requirement coming from NASA? I vaguely recall a heated debate about whether having astronauts in the loop improved or degraded safety.

Golden Spike : another 'commercial space company' gone

http://nasawatch.com/archives/2015/09/golden-spike-an.html

Another in sequence : B612 foundation
http://www.spacepolicyonline.com/news/nasa-terminates-space-act-agreement-with-b612-foundation-for-sentinel-spacecraft

Great going. Turns out there is more to spaceflight than making a website

EDIT: see the 3-year old reactions here

Didn't Golden Spike pay Grumman for a snazzy two-person lunar lander design? I wonder if GS would now be willing to sell that design to a Kickstarter campaign that promised to put it in the public domain...?

Seems they've renewed the domain, though the site is now solely their logo and the words 'under construction'.

If you donated you can ask for the designs I would think.  Hold the players feet to the fire so to speak.
or
Contact Kickstarter directly.

If somebody else bought the domain, they would not be using the Golden Spike logo.

From a practical point of view, if they are in a different jurisdiction, there is nothing to stop them, and depending on who they are, they might not be deterred by trademark/copyright laws anyway.
It is all well and good to quote those things that made it past your confirmation bias that other people wrote, but this is a discussion board damnit! Let us know what you think! And why!

yep just like the Dead Isle video game scam unleashed to amazing peoples/girls a few years back. Original company was dead for years and someone in the Isle of Man bought the domain so they could attempt to generate tons profit via a convoluted kickstarter scheme.

Yep it has changed hands as comparing the above info to Chris's 2012 article confirms so:

I guess this thread could be moved to the Historical section now.

Back in the 1990s, it was common for ventures to take advantage of PowerPoint, computer graphics and the WWW to make the claim that they were going to perform a miracle. People became jaded, which is why Golden Spike's actual announcement was such a dud.

The most comparable venture of this decade is Planetary Resources, but at least they are flying a CubeSAT and have a fairly plausible evolution path.

Of course, what is really different this time around is the phenomena of billionaires creating new toys.

Not to mention that PRI actually seems to have the most important thing to keep going: money! Of course there is no telling how much there is and how long it can keep them going, but there seems to be a fair bit at leasts. They have quite a large team to.
