an unsung hero: the SSMRS, Canadarm2, for which much of this station would not be possible.
And something I thought of last night: to think of how incredibly complex the ISS is, and how few issues we have seen, is a testament to those who helped design & build her from the ground up (literally)

Apologies for late posting, but I knew I needed to stay on top of capturing these images:

Our familiar SARJ grease gun (which they thankfully say they didn't need to use)

a gentleman is describing the various improvisations that were developed during the period between the failed EVA and today; reminds me of the farm improvisations;
bolt doesn't seem to have been the problem, but inside the thread hole there were particles that were inhibiting the driving of the bolt down; the use of improvised tools (tooth brush, with grease to get the particles out)
it worked
and here I was thinking they were using some high tech motorized tool

The Q&A is discussing how great the ideas have been, and mentioning how amazed the ideas that were brought forward & then discussing all the things that had to be done to make them usable (being long enough, tethers, ect)
Robert Perlman: asking about these 'new' tools, and whether the ground teams will build custom ones to fly up
A: Will keep these tools & learn from this. May have teams looking at new tools, but nothing planned except a tap to cut/chase threads

Q: on whether they will see similar issues with other ORUs on orbit
A: Mike Sufferdini noting that these units were installed on the ground using scissor jacks & such and had a lot of difficulty being installed do to the fact that the S0 (?) truss couldn't be rotated, so it might have seen thread damage that way. Other modules didn't have this issue, so they should be okay.
Also noting the 'big 12', with the MBSU & Pump Module, (missed the rest...bad feed)

Mike on DCSU trip: RBI in the DCSU, either in the sequential shunt unit (SSU) or in the Beta Gimbal itself, but was caused from outside the unit and have to determine what that was before going to the next step for an EVA. Little bit of work to go still.

Tomorrow: removing jumper for internal loads
Friday: removing jumper for external loads
Will then be in a nominal config

So the 'Big 14' list we had two years ago is now a 'Big Twelve" list, and Mike couldn't tell me [or wouldn't] if the recent DCSU failure is on the new list. It was on the old one, failure "1e".
