The EVA's look like good video to watch.

"It will be a 6 1/2 hour excursion designed
to replace a faulty power relay unit on the station's truss, rig
power cables for the arrival late next year of a Russian laboratory
module, and install a thermal cover on a docking port."

Anyone know the details of the "faulty power relay unit" ?

MBSU is perptually loss of comm.  We can't talk to it or command it, though it is still passing power.

Power cycle reset fixes everything. :3

Remember that 10.5mm wide-angle lens that produced those great photos during the STS-134 and STS-135 EVAs? Well, that same lens will be going outside tomorrow. :)

Spacewalkers Suni & Aki will egress the A/L (Airlock) hatch at ~8:15 AM EDT/12:15 PM GMT, for an outside duration of ~6h 30m (i.e., ingress ~2:45 PM EDT/6:45 PM GMT).  EVA-18 objectives are:
· Connect & route two power cables (#651, #413) for the yet-to-arrive Russian MLM (Multipurpose Laboratory Module) between the FGB & US Segment (future Russian EVA will complete the cable layouts and provide US power to MLM & SM via all 4 MBSUs [Main Bus Switching Units], instead of current configuration where only two are used to power SM)
· Remove the failed MBSU1 and replace it with the spare MBSU,
· Install failed MBSU1 in stbd ESP-1 FSE (External Stowage Platform 1 Flight Support Equipment)
· Remove failed SSRMS Boom B CLPA (Camera, Light, Pan/Tilt Assembly) and replace with spare CLPA
Get-aheads (time permitting) are:
· Install PMA-2 MMOD/thermal cover
· Remove & replace MBS (Mobile Base System) mast CLPA
· Replace JEF VE (JEM Exposed Facility Vision Equipment) fwd camera+light
· Troubleshoot FGB PDGF (Power & Data Grapple Fixture)
· Reconfigure EVA tools (WIF/Worksite Interface Fixture Extender).

Has anyone seen the EVA procedures anywhere? Seems like NASA forgot they still have operations in space as they don't post detailed tech stuff anymore like the shuttle ops plans.

I requested last week that it be placed on the FDF page at:

http://www.nasa.gov/centers/johnson/news/flightdatafiles/index.html

Nothing has appeared yet.

Bill Harwood has a timeline in his EVA preview article at:

http://www.cbsnews.com/network/news/space/home/spacenews/files/082912_eva_preview.html

This leads me to believe that the press has the EVA Checklist document.

No, they don't, they never send them out via that route. And I've asked, and was told it does not exist in PDF form. So Bill will probably a paper handout version.

Pete's article is due very shortly.
