How did you like that? HOW DID YOU LIKE THAT!!!  ;D Game face all day and I'm not ashamed to say I'm now in tears.

And thank you so much for this site Chris. I don't post much outside of L2, and I think I've said it before, but I want to post it. This is NSF. This is a site started to cover Shuttle and NASA. To see this amount of support and coverage for us is special. We appreciate the respect and giving us a level playing field.

GO DRAGON!!!

I have such feeling of pride and appreciation with what we all just witnessed. And I wouldn't have wanted to share with anyone but the NSF community. So congratulations to SpaceX and huge thanks to the NSF community. Chris especially...

Go SpaceX! What a confident and competent demonstration flight! I feel quite bad about the couple of moments this morning when I felt some lingering doubt about whether they'd be able to rendezvous today due to sensor problems.

Congratulations to all involved from here at Surrey. Today Dragon, tomorrow Dragonrider?  ;)

Congratulations SpaceX, NASA, and all those involved who spent years of hard work, sacrifice, and sleepless nights to make this happen.

Chris,

Would you call the accomplishments of SpaceX on this mission thus far... "astronishing?"

Congrats to all, and thanks for the coverage.

White House statement:

The Dragon Spacecraft has Berthed with the International Space Station

Quote
Following today's historic berthing of the SpaceX Dragon spacecraft to the U.S. Harmony module of the International Space Station, John P. Holdren, Assistant to the President for Science and Technology, issued the following statement:

For the first time, a private American company has successfully launched a spacecraft into orbit and berthed it with the International Space Station—an achievement of historic scientific and technological significance and a key milepost in President Obama’s vision for America’s continued leadership in space.

That is exactly what the President had in mind when he laid out a fresh course for NASA to explore new scientific frontiers and take Americans ever deeper into our Solar System while relying on private-sector innovators—working in the competitive free market—to ferry astronauts and cargo to Low Earth Orbit and the International Space Station. It’s essential we maintain such competition and fully support this burgeoning and capable industry to get U.S. astronauts back on American launch vehicles as soon as possible.

I could not be prouder of our scientists and engineers—both government and private sector employees—who have contributed to this historic mission.   A passion for discovery and a sense for adventure have always driven this Nation forward, and I join all Americans in watching what future possibilities are enabled by today’s great achievement.
Pro-tip: you don't have to be a jerk if someone doesn't agree with your theories

Blimey. Thanks for the kind words for us (mainly Ron and Philip of course), but as I said on the party thread, we get to cover spaceships. Can't beat that! Although it's also a responsibility and a privilage.

However, I really appreciate those kind words (every one of them!)

How did you like that? HOW DID YOU LIKE THAT!!!  ;D Game face all day and I'm not ashamed to say I'm now in tears.

You're going to set me off now. Congrats on a great day! :)

Happy Berth-Day Dragon!  8)

Stealing that! ;D

Chris,

Would you call the accomplishments of SpaceX on this mission thus far... "astronishing?"

I'd stick with "Historic" (for the success) with a dash of "Encouraging" (for the future). Not as dramatics as "astonishing", but I aim to be a positive thinker, so I was expecting them to be successful, as opposed to not, because thinking the latter - and then being successful - would be astonishing. So "Historic" fits best for me.

Long winded, but I hope you know what I mean! :)
