Obviously the most significant event to occur today was the possible launch of a canister containing human remains. ::)

Can't believe how many questions they got on that.

I think they were fishing for the Scotty remains? That's a standout headline in the non space media. I know it's not great, but that's how the game is played in the outside of subject specific media.

Do we have confirmation, that there was a Celestis burial payload on board? If yes, where is it: 2nd stage or Dragon capsule or Dragon trunk?

Second stage, I believe.
The Space Age is just starting to get interesting.

Shotwell said 2nd stage.

Headline: "Scotty gets beamed up!"

Fox News called, they want to hire you! ;D

With reference to the 'GNC Door', is that the panel on the exterior of the Dragon that covers the sensor bay? How is that opened? (electrically? pneumatically?) Is there margin for multiple tries?

Yes, but not sure how it's opened.

We're waiting on that open and lock confirmation!!

Yes, its the panel you've thinking of. I'm unsure how its opened.

I can.  We're still significantly outnumbered.

Is it just me or have all the reporters taken "commercial" to mean B2C as opposed to B2B? That would explain why they're hamming up Celestis.

Also, unrelated to above - did anyone manage to record the SpaceX stream all the way to array deployment? I've been trying to find THAT cheer, and the jumping anchor to post to FB, but Youtube isn't being helpful.

"SpaceX Private Rocket Blasts Off" was actually the headline they went with.

For reference - the GNC door (both closed and open).

Behind the door is the rendezvous sensors and the grapple fixture - so if the door doesn't open, then there's no mission.

That's not an official feed and we already know that. Nothing on the official feeds yet.

Fascinating that the efforts of remote manipulation @ISS are transiting through the hinge of that door

Offline MP99

Ms Shortwell confirms two abort ability.

Not on this mission - will use a lot of prop performing C2 objectives first. One abort on C3.

However, CRS flights will have the margin for two aborts.

cheers, Martin

Not just the hinge - in the image I attached below, you can see that there are three attachment points on the door that attach to three corresponding attachment points on the shell of the Dragon.

There was a concern that the hinges alone wouldn't be able to take the SSRMS manoeuvring loads.

I'm nervous about every bit of this flight until the capsule is down and secure on the recovery ship's deck! :P

@elonmusk:

Dragon spaceship opens the navigation pod bay door without hesitation. So much nicer than HAL9000 :) #DragonLaunch
