Talon looks so cool under the wing of @Stratolaunch's ultra-massive Roc carrier aircraft. What a great day of testing! #moredataismorebetter @NASASpaceflight

In case you missed it, you can re-watch the flight here: youtu.be/HmrgfT7P8cw

I hate to say that, but such a colossal plane for such tiny vehicle ! I do hope future Talons will grow much larger...

It looks ridicules. Couldn't they rent the OrbitaNGIS TriStar or the White Knight?
A benefit of an 'oversized' carrier aircraft (beyond 'we already have it, might as well use it') is that it relaxes other constraints on Talon's design. Less concern over whether the vehicle will physically fit under the carrier, maximum takeoff weight, weight distribution (can shift forward/back on the pylon without running into engines/landing gear/etc), whether it may have odd release dynamics (as long as it doesn't hit Roc, Talon's release isn't going to have a dramatic effect on flight dynamics as it would on a smaller carrier) etc, along with allowing for plenty of volume and mass growth whilst launching from the same platform.

They're sandbagging the Talon performance numbers. It's actually carrying the Stratolauncher.

Stratolaunch performing a Gamma Manoeuvre would be... rather sporty.

We recently accomplished our first captive carry flight with the Talon-A separation test vehicle, TA-0. TA-0 will soon be used to test and validate Roc's release system and characterize separation dynamics.  It’s an exciting time with lots of great company news ahead! #LetsRoc

This will be another milestone for the Stratolaunch with regards to proceeding with tests of the Talon-A, and I'm wondering if this may be the first free flight test of the Talon-A.

Yes except it will be propulsive unlike the captive carry/drop test article. TA-1 is presently planned to be the only powered test flight. The second propulsive flight onwards will land and be reused is planned to be the first operational.

Before Stratolaunch founder Paul Allen died, they had an orbital spaceplane concept. Look up Black Ice.

Wiki said spaceplane but not if it was orbital or not.

Usra Major who are supplying Hadley engines for Talon hypersonic test bed are also working on 200klbs methane engine. Stratolaunch are only potential customer I can think.

The Black Ice spaceplane was designed for orbital flights when first conceived.
