SpaceX sample return platform behind dragon
« on: 10/20/2011 06:41 pm »
They just posted this on their FB page.  The attached image shows 2 dragons, one of them mid-landing, on what certainly looks like our favorite red planet.  In the back ground they depict what appears to be a hab and a sample return platform.  All of this in the LAS design review announcement.  Talk about aiming high!

Not a new image... See the "red dragon" thread for discussion related to it.

Thanks Lars_J.  I was aware of the plan to use LAS for landing and the whole Red Dragon discussion.  For this image I was more interested what was going on behind dragon.  There is a platform that looks more like it would fit in a biconic lander than a dragon.  Was that covered?  Didn't see it.

Its the biconic lander from DRM 5.0 (reuse of fairing). SpaceX just had a video graphics company modified an existing model to add in the Dragon landing sequence.
