Did you see the ABC news item on TV? Or view the clip on the abc.com website?
The item is about a man planning to "run a mile on the Moon" in the year 2016, and he plans to get there onboard a Space Explorations Technology (SpaceX) spacecraft (he claims) is being prepared for launch in 2016.
   OK! Forget what kind of spacesuit is being designed for this man;
and lay aside the issue of how he managed to persuade Elon Musk
to fly onboard one of SpaceX's craft (Actually, I think he would need
a CSM and a separate Lunar lander).

I didn't know that Elon Musk has a Lunar lander in the works.
And I didn't know he was planning to convert or integrate his Dragon spacecraft into a CSM.
Where did ABC television news reporters get this info?
It sounds rather fishy to me.

I haven't seen the clip (is it online?), but I suspect this is the first SpaceX has heard of this, too. ;)
Someone is wrong on the Internet.

This may turn out to be yet another use of the ever-more-popular PSP (Posterior Sourcing Protocol) ... ;)

He should get Interorbital to take him. I hear they'll have that capability by 2016.

OK! I hope Chris Bergin will allow me to do this:

Here's the link:

I hope the video clip accompanying the text works:

The vid works as well as the previous vid link. However it might be geo-lock for some regions, after all ABC is part of the house of the Mouse.

The whole idea is a bit bizarre.

It's an MPEG-4 video so cpu loads might be high if your graphics dont have h/w accelerstion, plus there's a matter of the codec (Quicktime has it.)

Plays fine here & in iOS.

Sounds like bad reporting.

Didn't seem to say that he'd run the plan past SpaceX. Guess it would have been "plans to launch on Shuttle" if this had come out a few years ago.

cheers, Martin
