S. Korea to launch Arirang 5 satellite from Russia in Aug.

SEOUL, May 23 (Yonhap) -- The country's latest multipurpose satellite Arirang 5 will be launched in August after a two-year delay, the science ministry said Thursday.

The Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning said it has designated Aug. 22 as the launch date for the Arirang 5 satellite, which will lift off from a space center in Russia. The ministry also designated Aug. 23 as a backup launch date.

Turksat-4A launch has been pushed back to 2014
(source)

So after Sirius FM-6 launch in August, there will only be 2 more ILS launches in remaining 4 months? That's strange.

http://www.itar-tass.com/c11/774920.html - MexSat-2 launch by Proton-M is planned in 2014.

http://www.interfax.ru/news.asp?id=313013 - two Soyuz-2-1V launches are planned in 2013: in September and October.

2014

TBD Nauka Proton-M Baikonur 81/24

Changes on June 18th

So, Nauka/MLM is now slated for sometime in 2014. Although not surprising, has there been some official announcement on the delay from December?

MLM launch was always in 2014. The December 2013 date was just a bluff  ;)

No, the date 11 December 2013 was included in all official and unofficial schedules of Roskosmos and RSC Energia, but I was told that it will be changed soon to 2014.

offcourse, I'm not putting any blame on you anik. What I mean is that almost everybody following the MLM program knew that it would not be possible to launch MLM in 2013 despite their claims.

I asked my sources about this most recent delay. They are being told that the delay will be 3 to 4 months, thus pushing the NET launchdate to (almost certainly) the second quarter of 2014

So after Sirius FM-6 launch in August, there will only be 2 more ILS launches in remaining 4 months? That's strange.

ILS plans 3 to 4 launches this year. Apparently Inmarsat-5F1 and Turksat-4A will be this years final passengers.

Mexsat-1 is already listed in 2014 according to Boeing launch schedule.

Hmm, so that makes 8 ILS launches in 2013.

Now for federal launches: there is a GLONASS launch next month. Assuming that Globus-1M and Ekspress-AM5 also launch this year (which I doubt :) ), that would make a total of 11 Proton launches in 2013.

So I wonder why was all that controversy in beginning of the year when Kazakhstan allowed 12 Proton launches in 2013 while Russia demanding 17 . I guess the Kazakhs already knew they were giving more than enough.  ::)

Max launch rate was 14 in 2000 and most recently 12 in in 2010.  I doubt there was an expectation of needing more than 12 and this is just part of other negotiations.
