Does Bigelow have any firm customers signed up yet? I've read how they plan to offer their transhabs for researchers, national govts, etc, but do they have any paying customers yet, or at least anyone who's on a waiting list for when they do have their big module up in orbit?

They have only publicly announced MoUs.

Bigelow is selling 3 months @ a BA 330 hotel or lab

Hotel  2.6 billion yen for 3 months

if you want to use 1/2 the lab addtional cost of 2.8 billion yen

or total 5.4 billion yen ($68.75 dollars).

Training starts in 2014 and hotel opens in 2016.    :o

Seems like Bigelow is now ready to start taking customers.

I guess he feels that commercial crew is ready to have human spaceflight?
Darn it where is my Moon base!

I've heard most of this before, Bigelow came up with these numbers in a leasing guide a while ago.  I haven't seen it in public before, but I can confirm the 'sources' that these are likely Bigelow's current numbers.

However, this:
"Visitors can use the "private laboratory"...  as a broadcasting station, sources said."
is something that I never heard about.

They still don't have the ITU licenses for the regular comm (at least not 8mos ago).  They would probably have to piggyback on someone else's license.  I feel sorry for the comm designers, because I would bet they weren't consulted before marketing made this promise.

I was too lazy to look it up last night.   1 yen = $0.0127

2.6 billion yen = $33,020,000.00 dollars

5.4 billion yen = $68,580,000.00 dollars  :)

This article has a little more detail into Orbital Debris update from last week & has a little more info too.

Quote
The former employee added that the new hires would likely be model makers who will start construction of a mock-up for the company’s BA-2100 Olympus module.

Maybe its time to put the models down, and hire engineers to actually build the thing.....

After all, some time in CAD/3DS Max or even google model maker would give them an idea, as a customer I would be more impressed with mature systems and metal bending...erm fabric folding in this case.

send the model makers over, we can use their services.

For Bigelow?  No.  I don't even know if they are even working on any actual hardware.

Interesting.  A shame it wasn't proofread better; I'd give it a B- for punctuation and syntax errors.

Yeah, well that is par for the course from Bigelow Aerospace.  One of RTB's presentations on the web has 'hygene' among other misspellings, and the paperwork for 'Fly Your Stuff' has disintigrate (sic) in the disclaimer.

I usually expect better from Mike, however he may have been reading someone else's words.  ;) Employees are loathe to change the words that come down from on high.

I assumed that it was the transcription from a live event.  I've read many transcripts from things like corporate conference calls and have come to the firm conclusion that the majority of transcriptionists can type fast and get the message down, with accuracy and grasp of the written language as secondary.          Edit: Murphy's law says that there are probably several errors in this post of mine because of its content.  ;)

I believe it was a prepared statement, submitted before or after the fact. I watched the video, and noticed that there were a couple of words he did not say.  Like referring to the Dnepr rocket by the NATO designation 'Satan'.
