What happens to that OPF after Friday? Why not keep Atlantis in there longer? -

NASA INVITES MEDIA TO SHUTTLE ATLANTIS' MOVE TO VAB
CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. -- Media are invited to a photo opportunity as
space shuttle Atlantis moves from its processing hangar to the
Vehicle Assembly Building (VAB) on June 29 at NASA's Kennedy Space
Center in Florida. Atlantis is scheduled to move at about 9:30 a.m.
EDT. Media must arrive at Kennedy's Press Site by 8 a.m. for
transportation to the event.
Journalists without NASA Kennedy accreditation need to apply for
credentials by close of business Thursday, June 28. International
media accreditation for this event is closed. Badges may be picked up
at the Kennedy Space Center Badging Office on State Road 405. Media
must apply for credentials online at:
https://media.ksc.nasa.gov
Any updates on the move will be available at 321-867-2525.
Inside the VAB, Atlantis will temporarily be stored while shuttle
Endeavour undergoes transition and retirement processing. Atlantis is
being prepared for public display at the Kennedy Space Center Visitor
Complex in 2013.

Gotcha, so why even move Atlantis out if they are not done with her yet?

“If we turn the OPF over to another customer, we’d put Atlantis in the VAB until Endeavour rolls to the MDD (Mate Demate Device). And right now that’s a planned date of September 18th with a (ferry departure on) the 20th. We’re still tracking to our (target) date and everything is going really well.”

Thank you very much. Has the first OPF that was vacated been cleared out yet of all the equipment? I wonder how long it takes to deconstruct all the equipment in the OPF's and empty them out.

What do you mean "replica"? AFAIK everything except the RSSME is flight hardware. -

I meant all of the hardware that remains is flight hardware. RSSME (and I suppose OMS nozzles) is all that I've heard of being mocked up.
Don't get me started on all the stuff they've stripped out. -

They will probably add them later, the OMS nozzles were only attached to Discovery after she was in the Udvar-Hazy display. Don't know if Atlantis will get them before she rolls to the VC or not, but Endeavour will have hers put on in LA. -
