That would be amazing. From what I've read of the tour, there are a lot of obstacles in the way for any decent photos of Endeavour. If NASA allowed people to get that close to Atlantis, my jaw would be on the floor for sure.
Thank you for the pictures!
Hmm, already got my tickets for the guided tour for tomorrow and this has me wondering how the tour will work now, with Atlantis basically sitting where you'd be standing at to look at Endeavour next to it in HB4. You can actually see the barrier and posters for the tour to the left of Atlantis. (camera right)
The lady at KSC insists the tour will still be going into the VAB.

It will probably look about like today...

It's more where you stand then obstacles fro seeing Endeavour, it's fenced in and you stand 20 - 30 feet or so from the nosecap, she's looking at you, so you can't get a good side shot, plus with the RCS removed the nose isn't all that appealing. If they keep Atlantis there where the tour walks in, they will walk in and see her nose and then down the side, now that would be very cool. They might roll her back by the high bay doors though, then the tour wouldn't get anywhere near it. I'll be curious to hear from anyone who does the tour how that works out. I know if I did not live 1100 miles away, I'd try to get in there. My son is down there for the Delta IV launch last night and took the tour yesterday, the tour guide said that both orbiters would be inside the VAB for 10 days then Endeavour will move out and Atlantis will go into the fenced in area.

Please report back on your experience. If you get to walk past Atlantis, it's going to be a struggle to keep myself from gassing up the car and making the 14 hour drive......

Thanks guys!

Just felt like it needed to be said, so it's probably as close as I get to op-ed, as much as it's still very much an article.

What is the reason they need to hook her up to the purge unit when she will not be using power ever again? I only ask because once on displlay none of them will be hooked to purge lines, etc.
I passed along the question to a friend at KSC who contacted PAO, and the response was "to preserve flight hardware that could potentially be used for SLS".

PAO is actually correct on that.
Still very sad to see such a fine ship like this when it can be strongly argued her time had not yet come.
