I'll definitely have to go back soon after it opens to see the rest. I was very impressed. I kinda thought it seemed too dark at times but there may be more lighting going in, not sure. But the theme IS supposed to be simulating on-orbit so it probably won't get much brighter. All in all it was very surreal knowing that I worked on her and saw her on the pad less than 2 years ago, knowing that i helped with annual validations on that vent arm a few years before that. It still is somewhat depressing seeing her there. but it definately beats the alternative, like Buran's fate, or rotting in a boneyard somewhere. Like I told someone else there, it more than does her justice after the injustice that she, and the rest of the program, suffered due to the country's financial woes and changing political winds. But that is a subject for a different thread....
I wholeheartedly recommend going. Pay her a visit. I think she'd appreciate it.....

Great visual tour, Padrat. Thanks for sharing. I definitely plan to get down there this summer to see her in this fabulous new exhibit hall. What a wonderful home they've created for Atlantis!
Hope that ISS exhibit is big enough for adults to craw in, and not just kids!

Thank you
padrat for sharing this magnificent photo show, the impression is phenomenally, simply stunning images.

I can imagine that you got goose bumps when you have reminded on your many years of hard work on the pad, all the many experiences, impressions, joy and also disappointment that this unique program unfortunately but had to stop.

Thank you Tony for this smashing video too,

maybe I can admire also sometime this exhibition, for the time being, it is still a dream, but a very beautiful ...

Thank you again!

Thank you so very much for the amazing pictures and the work you did on her for all those years. I am glad to see she is atleast being retired with dignity and grace and she is the star of the show. I am planning to go in September so I cant wait to see her. I have seen Discovery on Display, and that for me was very touching for me due to the love I have had for the program since I was a child and watched the first launch of the program, so to see Discovery in person was a dream come true and now to get this close to Atlantis will be amazing!!

There's a neat looking ISS exhibit for the kids to play in, when it's finished.
Can adults play in it too...?

Whenever I eventually visit, they'll probably have to call security at closing time to forcibly remove me from there.

Thanks for the pre-tour padrat! Nice exhibit to be sure (and good words by you).
We'll be sure to stop by for a full day when in town for the EFT-1 launch.

Looks like something interesting is happening to the right. There's a black line on the concrete and what looks to be some stabilizers on the ground. The previous cherry pickers didn't use that AFAIK.
Anyone have an idea?

After the family viewing it has gone again to work.

There are still some parts to install like the rear support of the orbiter and the supply lines for electricity, liquids, and gases between the ET and the rest of the shuttle stack, as well as details on the SRBs.

They did a much better job on the RSME's on Atlantis than they did on Discovery. The inside of them on Discovery are like a gray color and Atlantis actually looks realistic I think.
