Aww, nice sign off from Houston ACR. Last ever time for a Shuttle mission.
A little behind the scenes story: that's the familiar voice of Beth Weissinger, who is an audio engineer with Houston ACR. The press room here, which is the old briefing room (but not the old, old briefing room), is basically in ACR's area, so we frequently pass in the hallway here.
Beth started here at the beginning of 2000; her first Shuttle mission was STS-99. She was nice enough to stop for a moment after her night shift today for a picture (thumbnail attached) and to let me pretend to be journalist for a few moments.
Very cool! Well done Beth!

I also liked Chris Ferguson's response. Josh is back with commentary.

I think this is my favorite NASA TV video of all time. Up there with the SE&I 133 and 134 videos, but has the edge.
John Streeter (sp) deserves a frakking Emmy for it.

Just watched Launching Our Dreams - wow. It was the first time I'd seen it. Makes you take time to think. I know this is the end but please think of it as the beginning of what is to come

Durn.... can't watch any of these vids whilst at work... Hope they're available for download (if I already don't have 'em in my gigabytes of downloads for this mission, heh)

NASA TV Video File is running right now...I believe Josh said it's a little under an hour long today. Showing some Station video here at JSC...when NTV returns, the crew will be nearing the end of their day.

FYI gang... remember the excellent re-entry video the young man from Mexico took from
Endeavour's return?
He's going to do it again for
Atlantis. He's flying out to Cancun this evening... I'm trying to get in contact with some of my FDO brethren on console right now to get him some look angles/times so that he can do this again!
Stand by - I imagine it'll be on YouTube in the next few days...

This thread is amazing, so many great posts from people in tribute.
By the way Roger "Flight FDO... burn complete, no further trim reqd."
Has there ever BEEN a trim required? I've never heard anything other than "no trim"

Sure... in simulations all the time when we get failures (conveniently) inserted by the Sim team DURING burns...

During missions? I've only seen a few *minor* tenths of a fps required for trim - I can only remember one, but years ago.

FWIW, there might also be some good views of Atlantis re-entering over Florida this time around as the sun won't be up but it will be just beginning to rise (about 45 minutes from sunrise is landing to be exact)
This is for my area.

Replay of Orbit 2 and Commander Chris Ferguson farewells.
Megan notes the pride of working with them.
Fergie notes he remembers the Apollo landing. Wants that day to come for the current folks one day. Doesn't know what to think, trying to take it all in.
Hopes the nation will have the courage to finish the work they started. When you leave the room, take a look back at the MCC and make a memory.

Yeah, that was nice -- wish I could have stayed a few more minutes to get that in real-time with the video.

Ha! Very cool!
I passed along the entry sighting info to Noe... he's going to be on-station in Cancun to capture tonight's entry just south/east of the Yucatan!
