Never going to see this again after they undock
I was just thinking about that again when the +1 note came in. Next week's going to be tough. Still, chin up, good mission, safe on the ground, then it'll really hit home when her APUs shut down.

Per L2. MMT approve the +1 day.
Well done to Atlantis and her team on the cryo management!
Writing up a status article on her systems, so this will be the angle when I've finished it.
I concur on the well done! Any word on what the margins are now? Just curious if they could get to a point of adding yet another day if it became necessary without cutting into the +2 landing contingency days.

Megan now informing the crew of the MMT decision now.
Also noting they are expecting to fully clear TPS tomorrow, that'll be via the DAT. Excellent stuff.

They were hovering around the 1 day 3hr to 4hr point last I heard.

If anyone knows the deorbit opportunity times for July 21st please post. Bill Harwood has nothing, and NASA never posts until a few days prior. I'll dig around. July 20th touchdown time was 7:06 a.m. EDT

Also per L2, SRB videos won't be today.
They shut down the Hangar AF, where disassembly operations take place, for the day. Target is to process the videos tomorrow, playback probably around this time tomorrow.

I think I just heard Josh note that....
Deorbit Burn 03:52 Central
Landing: 04:56 Central
Someone check my times, as I was on the phone and may have misheard.

Tweet from @NASA:
With STS-135 extended a day, the new landing time is planned for July 21 at 5:56 a.m. EDT, a night landing at Kennedy Space Center.

Thanks Bruey!
Sandy asking the ground about that Women's World Cup (didn't even know there was a women's WC until yesterday) but it was funny, it reminded by of Piers asking about the proper World Cup in 2006, where Zidane got sent off for headbutting that Italian and the CAPCOM was trying to explain it, and failed miserably. Still got a "Oh my" from Piers

And of course the "most important" thing, Women's World Cup scores for Sandy (USA over Brazil and Japan over Germany).

The more important timeline is the STS-135Ascent imagery highlights reel (should use the Mccreary music)

Pleasure to be back and we’ve had another good 24 hours in space
All MPLM operations went smoothly, crew are ahead of timeline
Spacewalk tomorrow, crew is finishing up preparations
Big day in the MMT
SSP reviewed the +1 day in the ISS MMT this morning
Will not be a problem to keep the crew busy in the +1 day
Reviewed consumables have 1 day 6 hours of margin which we expect to grow 1-2 hours a day for the remainder of the docked period
Everyone was GO to add a day
It’s the right thing to do on this mission, would give them more time if we had it
13+0+2 is the mission as it stands today expect to have 6 hours above this tomorrow
DAT
Have 5 items that are being reviewed
4 are minor blanket issues
1 other item is a minor tile damage site
They recommended we don’t need a FI
WLE team have no issues
Anticipate no issues with the TPS
The lack of damage to Atlantis speaks volumes to the work the teams have done
Have worked tireless to improve, learn and be determined that each flight is safer than the previous
Teams can feel very very proud of the performance of the vehicle
Have some weather issues at Florida which delays the slip operations on the SRB’s
Still possible we might get video from them tomorrow
GPC was brought up and did a IPL and dump
GPC 3 is perfectly healthy, was a switch tease issue
When we took the MPLM out of the bay a micro switch on a retention latch mechanism (micro switch A on [missed it] 3) failed to indicate open when it was open. It’s redundant though. No other uses for the switch later in the mission. Would not be an issue even if we lost the other micro switch.
No issues on the conjunction, don’t have one any more
Questions
Q: Can you only add 1 day?
A: Yes
Q: What are you doing with the extra day?
A: Additional unstow unpack and place on station items. Have some ISS systems item we can help on. Set up and config of some cargo were bringing up. And some general job jar items on station. Have some 70 items in total, there off prioritising the list.
Q: How close would you get +2 days? (Philip!)
A: Towards the end of the docked mission we expect to have another half a day.
Q: Any orbit adjustments required for the new EOM? (Philip!)
A: Nothing in the preliminary looks. Flight dynamics are evaluating. Don’t think we need an orbit adjustment for any of the landing opps on the 21st
Q: Why are the cryogenics the limiting factor?
A: We know how much power we need for the systems and then we calculate how much reactants we need to produce this much power.
Q: What planning takes place now a +1 day has been added?
A: Teams plan for this eventuality so it won’t be a scramble. The flight planners will generate a +1 day flight plan which will be added on FD8. Some items will move ahead and behind as a function of which tasks get implemented on which days. Initial publication of +1 day timeline is probably already being reviewed by the flight team, it will get iterated on still though.
Q: Is it bittersweet that you built up a program that is so efficient now and its ending ?
A: On launch day we had the weather and GOX vent hood challenges and the teams did an outstanding job working through them. Had several balloon issues. Every item could have prevented a launch but the team worked through them and this continues to be the case whilst on orbit. The team is very committed to finishing strong. It’s not just a mantra if you look at the performance of the vehicle the proof is in the pudding. More importantly is the mood which I cant tell any difference in. It will change post wheel stop. This team has a tremendous amount of momentum right now and we want to leverage it, the skill base and the lessons from the shuttle program as we move forward. The team is committed to the task at hand and when were done we will seed out the shuttle team into other activities and this will pay huge dividends in our ability to go forward and succeed.
Q: Inventory of whats available from the shuttle that your not retiring for the SLS, will ET production restart?
A: It’s a work in progress. There are some items of STS like main engines that we envision in at least the first part of the next program. So we’ve planned for them to be preserved along with GSE and spares. We’ve had to stop the vendors making parts but there’s a lot of SSME logistical support available on the shelf. Other MPS elements subsystems like plumbing and valves that we anticipate we’ll be asked to keep in a preserved state. Were building a spreadsheet for them. Regarding boosters there a lot of discussion regarding using similar hardware. Items we have used to process boosters will be preserved. Have identified things that won’t be used going forward. Like shuttle trainers and were trying to get them out to academia and industry.
Q: Whats happening to Endeavour and Atlantis regarding going to museums?
A: Some discussion about not going beyond down mission processing on Endeavour until we get a memo. Haven’t got the memo but we’ve been told to expect it. Atlantis will go into normal down mission processing then into preps for being displayed at KSC.
Q: How do you reconcile that the smallest crew in a long time are ahead of schedule?
A: I don’t know but I’m happy about it. Part of the answer is that the mission design was done for 4 people. There not doing everything a 6-7 person crew would do.
Q: Thoughts as you approach the last EVA in the shuttle era, how far have you come since the beginning of ISS assembly?
A: Feel a great sense of accomplishment for the team. It’s a tribute to the teams that we can execute in this fashion and the vehicle performance is as good as it is. We’ve come a long way since the beginning of station assembly. Theres a lot of lessons learnt from the shuttle that the agency can get great benefit from moving forward. Theres a lot to be learned from shuttle and we should build on the things we know well. It’s not just about the shuttle but the capability that was provided. We have a lot of lessons documented.
