Post launch press conference slipping 10 minutes (to 10 past the hour) to take the ESTL pass live, and hopefully get live TV of payload bay door opening on NASA TV.

Were there any notable foam liberation events during the ascent? Could not see much.
I saw something fly off around 4 minutes or so way off to the side of the orbiter, other than that, nothing.

I tell ya, I don't think my heart has gone that fast since Christmas Morning when I was 5 years old.
Yep, doesn't do the ol' heart much good, things like that
. It was nerve wracking!
Very sad though, knowing that this was the last. Forty three years of following the US space programme and it feels worse than after Apollo 17 somehow.
Ustream cut out for a few minutes duiring ascent unfortunately. Probably due to high numbers hitting it.
Keith
Keith, STS 135 was very emotional to watch.
And having witnessed first hand the Apollo days, I agree with you that this does feel worse than following Apollo 17.
I believe it is because of the uncertainty of what is to follow.
After "17" we had Skylab...and down the road Shuttle to look forward to...

Trying to lock up on signal...flashing in and out...I believe Fergie was channeling Hannibal Smith w.r.t. to the comment about timing this so that the doors would come open during the ESTL pass...

Beautiful view. Amazing how easy they open (cause they are in micro G) whereas they need mechanically opening in the OPF.

I add mine to the endless list of congratulations and thanks to Atlantis herself, her fine crew, the many folks who have made this happen for 30+ years, and to those at NSF who allow us this marvelous inside look.
What would be the best site to monitor to see if there are any images from the ET "death camera?" (I know, it's probably posted earlier, but there's been so much to track, while trying to earn a buck back here on earth.)

General Bolden recorded message. They clearly don't want to risk him in front of the media again.
"Win the Future" (WTF). Reading off a script never looked so obvious. Look at the camera, sir, over here sir!!
