All the best to Atlantis and her crew and everyone involved for this final shuttle mission.
I was lucky enough to be able to travel from Melbourne, Australia in May 2009 to see Atlantis STS 125 launch.
I watched with my husband and children, from the NASA causeway- something I'll never forget - Thrilling and spectacular !
And by the way, our success in seeing that launch was in no small way due to the fantastic information from this great site and the brilliant contributors and members right here.
And may I say thankyou to jmcgauley for sharing your thoughts - very nice.
Godspeed Atlantis, cheers

Yeah, I'm numb--hard to believe. So glad to have seen STS-1 through today (and to see three launches in person).
Thanks to everyone dedicated to US HSF over the years!
Go Atlantis! Go STS-135!

Godspeed, and good luck. May the heavens part, the ground tremble, and all present bear witness as Atlantis rises, one last time.

Thanking everyone who has contributed to the space shuttle program from its inception. Truly has been a remarkable vehicle & program, and the people behind it makes it a reality.

After 30 years of flight, the curtain is about to come down on one of mankind's most remarkable achievements. That's a massive tribute to all those who have worked on the Shuttle programme since its inception.
The mission has changed; and the shuttle has changed with it. The construction of the ISS would not have been possible without the workhorses of the shuttle fleet.
But it has not been without a cost: as Atlantis sets out on her final flight, we remember the loss of Challenger and Columbia and their crews.
A sad day, but also a day for celebration.
Godspeed, Atlantis!

Kept us in suspense almost to the final second. Not like we haven't experienced that before. But Atlantis would not be denied!

To all the orbiters and people who have worked on them over the years... thanks for the great memories. You will be missed and never forgotten.
I have lived through the end of Mercury, Gemini, Apollo and now Shuttle. Someone this one seems the most bittersweet of all.

With her reputation as the diva of the fleet, "the Penguin" had a flair for the dramatic today before she took her final curtain call.
It was so appropriate.
