KSC To Host Commercial Operations Office
« on: 02/18/2011 03:28 pm »
"He (Bolden) said he planned to formally announce "within the next few weeks, if not days" that KSC will be the home of the NASA office that oversees the development and operation of commercial space taxis".

Bolden says he is comfortable with commercial crew making the 2015 time frame.

I read on a different sight human commercial is moving to KSC.  Can anyone confirm this?  If true, it sounds like a way to give KSC more work as shuttle is retired.  Also, it will take them some time to come up to speed to oversee human space craft design.

Yes. For some reason it got a lot of attention recently, but it is not news. NASA announced this last April.

The deputy for commercial crew will remain at JSC:

and it is expected that both centers will stick to their current areas of competence (KSC for LVs, ground ops, and payload processing, JSC for spacecraft engineering and flight ops).
