Geez this place is going to be a madhouse..... I'm thinking if we scrub at all I'm just going to stay here and sleep in the jeep, lol. Considering by the time I get home I'll have to turn back around again!
The worst part is that this is probably a good idea for real, and not just a funny piece or irony

While you guys have zero sympathy in the first place (you have the best work in the world after all), I am almost tempted to sympathize on the aspect of the public spectator invasion for this launch - the logistics must be an utter nightmare.

Does the Congressional bus go directly from Merritt Island to the Causeway and/or Banana Creek? The tickets do not appear to include a visit to KSCVC--
Do they just go up 3?
Yes the congressional people meet at the Merritt Mall and are bussed directly to the Causeway and back again. Don't get to go to the Visitor Center at all. I'm not complaining though!

Do congressional guests get to view the launch from Causeway or do they get access to the same viewing spots as those holding media passes?

KSCVC is operated by a private company separate from KSC, which is probably why you never do anything through them with Congressional passes. Those deal directly with KSC, and you'll probably find that your drivers and escorts are KSC personnel.

Congressional passes go to Banana Creek or the Causeway, and from what I'm hearing, it's more often the Causeway with these last missions. There may be a lot of real VIPs (for lack of a better term) filling up Banana Creek. On the other hand regarding VIPs, celebrities don't seem to be having much trouble getting to the press site (Sir Richard Bronson, LeVar Burton, Seth Green, etc.), so I'm not really sure how its working exactly.

You gave me an idea re: the press site. I have the Virgin Galactic secret business card. I am going to send an email. I have my pictures of him, daughter and friends on the boat at the Monaco Grand Prix that I haven't sent yet. Maybe they will do me a special favour.

Hi. Once tickets are ordered, how long until they are sent? My friend got a couple of VC tix in last Wednesday's lottery. Maybe he overlooked it, but he said he didn't see anything about when the tickets might arrive.
Thanks.

For tracking purposes, launch viewing tickets will be shipped via FedEx. U.S. shipping will cost $15. International shipping will cost $35. U.S. and International tickets will ship by June 24, 2011.

Does anyone know when the KSCVC typically gets their current mission gear in? They are still on 134 and I'm suffering from SSS (Shuttle Shopping Syndrome). I need my 135 gear!
KSC updated their Space Shop store and now they have some shirts listed - no tab yet for STS-135 specifically on the store home page, but a search brought up:

Have you received a shipping confirmation in the past or been told you would get a shipping confirmation? My reciept does not say I should expect a confirmation/notice. I don't recall getting one when I purchased tickets a couple years ago... but that was a while ago so I could be wrong.

Nope - and I guess I shouldn't expect one, so I'm not freaking out yet. If they did go out on June 15th, I should get it Monday (or Tues, at latest).

Given the need to work (i.e. no one might be at home), and if there is no trancking number such that I can track the delivery status, will they (i.e. Fedex) usually give you a call prior to delivery such that I can ask Fedex to redeliver or to hodl at theor facility for pick-up ?

Unless the sender requires a signature, FEDEX will usually leave a package or envelope on my porch. If I am expecting something, I might leave a note saying it is ok to leave it on the porch.

I know in the past they have been spotty with emails when they ship. I think my last KSC tickets came signature required. I lived in an apartment at that time so they just left all packages at the main office and the desk person signed for them, so I imagine in normal circumstances they would just leave a slip to sign and they would leave the package at your door.

Hi everyone! I know the launch is still 18 days away, but I am soooo excited and want to make sure I am prepared ahead of time. I have never been to the causeway before and I have a bunch of questions and would greatly appreciate any input anyone can offer me.
I got tickets through GL with the pick up on Merrit Island at 2am. My place is immediately south of the pier, so what time should I plan to leave? I was thinking of 1am, is that too early or too late? I have no idea how many buses there will be, so have no idea what to expect in regards to traffic.
I'm assuming concessions will probably be over-priced so was hoping to pack some drinks and snacks like sandwiches. Is bringing food okay? On the NASA website it states that soft sided coolers are permitted, but it doesn't specify any size limit?
Are Gameboys or PSP's permitted? I am bringing my 14 year old stepson who will probably get impatient with all the waiting, and I was hoping to bring the electronic babysitter to keep him occupied/quiet.

Pick up at 2am? The T-0 is at 11 something am, the NASA causeway does not open until 4 hours before that. That just doesn't sound right, I'm I missing some info here?

I think most tour companies go to the VC first and leave for causeway from there. I'm guessing it's for security. I have scored Congressional TIckets twice before. First one was for Banana Creek, second time was for Causeway. Banana Creek is better for pre-launch distractions (better stiore, exhibits, food), Causeway , imho had a better view of the launch.
Does anyone know if Florida is going to close down the toll on 528? THat is usually the bottleneck going back to Orlando. I'm hoping to get back to the mall and bolt quickly from there. ANy luck and I can get ahead of the traffic.
