As for the stress; This is the last shuttle launch EVER. EVER.
You knew there'd be stress and frustration in trying to get Causeway tickets; it goes with the territory of every launch, and it's bound to be worse given the symbolic nature of this launch. Just acknowledge that, and enjoy the fact that you are secure in knowing you secured tickets early, and didn't chance it by waiting until the last minute.
E.
Yup - it was worth my 3+ hours yesterday to have them secured.
Good luck to everyone else this morning!
----------------
FYI... if some friends don't decide to make the trip down, I might have 2 extra VIP Causeway tickets. I'll definitely post ITT if that's the case!

Just to change the topic for a minute :-)
I have a feeling I know the answer to this but since I have never been to a launch, is there anyplace to stand in the visitor center and not have the trees in the way, such as in the bed of my pickup truck in the parking lot? :-)
If you're talking about trees obscuring the pad, the answer is no. (the bed of your pickup won't help. I have seen people stand on top of their large fifth wheel motorhome in the lot, and they claim it helps)
Many people choose the memorial wall, the rocket garden, or the big grassy field by the playground though to get as low an angle of attitude as possible on the initial trajectory.
But when I was on the grounds for STS133, I chose to stand in the far corner of the center, which is nearest the traffic light that you turn into the VC parking lot.
From that position, you have a relatively clear shot (via a low angle of attitude due to the clear space afforded by the large intersection of the two roads) and can even sneak some shade from the large overhead display of the ET/SRB assembly. Stay to the middle left side of the ET/SRB assembly, and you'll have a nice clear view. (the right side has a single tree at the railing that partially obscures the launch trajectory view)
E.
Thank you for the information!

well, that's damn annoying.
https://www.graylinecfl.com/STS-135-NASA-Causeway-Viewing-VIP-Package.html is... up and running.
the page just... loads. causeway tickets still available.
i want those hours of my life back, reloading all of those 503 errors yesterday. and all of the hours in the weeks before, stressing about whether i'd even get a causeway ticket.
they'll probably sell out in a matter of minutes, but at the moment it's like yesterday never happened.
I want my 8 hours back too LOL especially the long night hours (my time over here) until past 2.00 AM
when I checked about one hour ago out of curiosity, they were sold out of Causeway tix
never would I figure that they would put more out today, with a site that probably works better and less jammed than last night.
Let's see how long these will last...
I bet there will be many buying them off by groups of 6... for whatever is left...

They're already out again - hope some folks saw our posts in here that they had some available again in time!
Sounds like they either acquired a few more this morning or purged carts to free up a tiny bit of inventory...
From their FB page 45 mins ago:
Just saying..... prehaps I was able to secure a few extra causeway tickets..... prehaps they will be online in 5 mins...... and prehaps I won't be sending big email annoucements as I don't want my site to run at snail speed again
good luck!

I'm staying on I-Drive. It seems to be where all the action is. However, I will be heading over across the street from the Holiday Inn on TG Lee to get my steak at Longhorn.
Yeah, int drive is definitely the place to be in this area.
I'm always surprised to see the massive focus on space coast hotels when there are so many, far better, and more available options in Orlando.

Yeah, int drive is definitely the place to be in this area.
I like the airport area. I get to see airplanes day in day out.
I always loved hotels near runways to watch takeoffs and landings.
:-)
A bit dull after watching a Space Shuttle launch I admit but they are reserved for only a select few.

Haven't tried the Longhorn. I've been to the Bonefish Grill a couple of times. Good steak?
I think it's very good. I get the Outlaw Ribeye. A lot of people will tell you to go to Charlie's Steakhouse for the best. I've been to both and think they are about the same.

I have yet to receive a message on the lottery--neither positive nor negative news. I've repeatedly checked my spam folder, too. Well, grats to all who won the right to by tickets.

I got my lottery 'Apology' a few days ago. (Jun 16, 1:16 PM EST)
Sounds like you did not get tickets yet? If you're looking for KSCVC tickets, FDT and Gator might still have some if you rush over to their sites.
<Edit - I stand corrected! Causeway even!>E.

I just tried FDT online to see what would happen and it appears they still have causeway that you can order online.

I thought about getting another one for shuttle memorabilia. Since they take your LTT when you board the bus. I've tried to get it back after launch and they won't give them back.

Maybe they will give those Causeway tix back to us this time as there will be no more Space Shuttle launches after this. I don't see why we should not be able to get them back this time. It will not hurt to ask.

I thought the same thing. It ended up working out for me that after the first scrub I still had a set (blue/green LTT) that was never used and since the green was reissued i got to keep a green and sell my blue to someone else and still have a pair to keep for memories!

OMG!!!!!!
So, I applied for Congressional tickets as soon as I knew the funding for 135 was approved…but heard nothing.
I applied to KSCVC lottery for causeway tickets…didn’t get picked.
I tried for the tweetup…still nothing.
KSVC did pick me for the secondary lottery, but no causeway tickets available.
I have resigned myself to watching this launch on TV. Big disappointment, but what could I expect? It’s the last one and everyone wants to go. Nasa Legislative affairs sent me an email today asking if I want in with the congressional tickets…can you say YES!!!!!!
So it looks like I’m going to the launch afterall. Need to set up hotels and planes now. The one question I have is: Is there a launch window on Friday Saturday and Sunday? I’m thinking of flying down Thurdsday night and staying til Sunday.
