Hello all. I am new here. Have been watching the thread for weeks but joined up today after the frustration of trying to land tickets.
DON'T GIVE UP!!!!!!!

I have been refreshing all day including during a 2 hours meeting with the architect on my new house. I finally somehow got through. Had several failed attempts at the payment process then wham! It got through and I secured my tickets. Please don't give up. We have to beat those scammers who are getting these tickets for the sake of profiting on ebay! Best of luck to you all. I saw Endeavour STS-134 from the visitors center and was determined to get causeway this time and I succeeded!

Is Gator mailing tickets to the buyers?
FDT told me that I had to pick them up... =\
If I'm flying in on a redeye flight due to a lack of vacation days for work time off, how the heck am I supposed to get them?
E.
I'd verify with them if it was critical to my plans, but FYI... FDT posted this on their Facebook page yesterday evening, approx. 7:30 pm CDT: "correct, no mailing of tickets. a few reasons: we have no confirmed date that we will have physical tickets in hand. canada postal strike. 18 of the previous 20 launches we have sold have been will call without issue. as always if you cannot collect ticket prior to launch day, they will be taken to the pickup location on the morning of, obviously having to collect them there will delay your boarding slightly."
Wish I had known that before I started banging away on Gator's site. LOL.
I'm gonna call FDT tomorrow and see what they have to say, but does anyone have a guess as to what their transfer policy is? If I don't have the tickets in my possession, seems like it might be difficult to transfer them to another person that needs them...
(who obviously paid me back for them)
E.

The browser you use isn't going to make a difference. The server is getting more requests than it can serve up. If the server is busy it's busy and it won't respond to your request and then you timeout. The browser you use isn't going to change that.

I am looking at viewing the launch from Spaceview Park. Does anyone have any idea when the parking lots in the surrounding areas will start filling? Basically when should we start laying claim to our area?
I went there for 133, got there at 730 - 745 and it was already packed in many areas. I found a few spots in one area about 200 yards from the park itself. By the time I got out of my truck, and my chair set up, that lot was full. I didnt wander around too much to see the sites, was just danged tired from the rush to get there the night before. Made it to south of Jacksonville about 1130 the night before, crahsed for about 5 hours, then headed the rest of the way down.

This was my observation too until I asked about it at the VC ticket kiosk during my last visit - turns out you can purchase just the (additional) bus tour / lunch ticket(s) online without purchasing admission, useful if you have annual passes or a launch ticket.
On the initial ordering screen, enter the ticket quantity for your party as if you're ordering them admission tickets, continue on with your add-on order, then when you're previewing your cart you can delete the admission tickets. Works perfectly every time.
Thanks, that's a helpful hint. Much easier than trying to call since online you can see the times available.

OK, so my wife and I tried to get Causeway tickets this morning.
The Greyline site was totally dead. We eventually got in on FDT and secured two causeway tickets

I just went back to my laptop and for the heck of it hit refresh on the greyline page.
It loaded and let me select 6 causeway tickets and I am now at the checkout page.
I don't need the tickets and am curious if it will actually let me complete the checkout.
Does anyone else know if Grayline is selling tickets for Causeway?
Is this a fluke?

11:00 pm EST. Looks like the crowds on Gator's site have died down. Server responsive and Causeway tickets still available.
Once the day finished and FDT closed the phone lines, it seemed as if the access to Gator got better. Got my tickets from Gator at T+8hrs15min. Much of the crowd causing the feeding frenzy must have given up.
Otherwise, call FDT Friday morning 9:00 am EST. Even though calling FDT is frustrating, I suppose it evens out access to these tickets to those putting in the effort. Even the Gator server acted like a meter.

If you can, book with a carrier who doesn't penalize excessively for flight changes, have heard Southwest is a good choice in that regard.
Also, keep watching the processing thread for updates, it's your best source for knowing about launch prep happenings.
I would - except I'm a Delta guy (racking up miles for our honeymoon at the moment) so I am inclined to book with them.
That said, I agree that SW's policy on changes is hard to beat.
Decisions, decisions...
I've been watching this and the processing thread religiously for the past month so I should catch any schedule slips pretty quickly.
Thanks for the reply!
My 2 cents would be maybe wait 1-2 days to see if there is any more info on this valve problem that happened during the tanking test. Sounds like they are pretty hopeful it won't delay launch but also don't have a ton of buffer. Also remember that Florida thunderstorms are just getting started so that might cause delays in the work that needs to be done.
I also don't know about flying out Monday but that might be as reasonable as you can get. The problem is that I'm sure if there are late scrubs that they will delay 48 hours because of the traffic around the area. Weather scrubs, unless it prevents tanking altogether, are usually late scrubs too as they usually will hold on just to see if there is a break in the weather. Maybe it would be good to book a flight for Tuesday to give you three launch attempts assuming room for 2 48-hour scrubs.

I'm kind of glad I didn't bother with the tour companies today as that sounds like it was rough.
Since there were so many people that had trouble with getting tickets from the tour companies I figure it might be good to break the "I have extra tickets" or "Does anyone have extra tickets?" posts out of the viewing thread. I am already the beneficiary of contacting an NSF member about extra AHOF tickets so this might give others the chance.
I don't think we need to set too many rules for the thread but some general observations:
- If someone posts they have tickets you are interested in send a PM directly to the person instead of posting a "I'll take your tickets Mr XXX" on the thread. The way to do that is to click on the profile name and look for the "send this member a personal message" near the bottom of the profile since not everyone has emailing directly to them enabled.
- If you post that you have extra tickets available try to make sure you know how to get to the "My Messages" section. (Pretty easy but I didn't notice it there for a while since I always scrolled right down to the shuttle forums)
- If you do arrange with someone to sell your extra tickets to them edit your original message that you posted what you had so people don't waste time contacting you
I think one thing about everyone on here is we always are willing to help each other out with our shared passion. Hopefully starting this thread will help make that happen and prevent messages from people getting buried in the viewing thread and tickets going unused (the NSF police will come lock you up for that).

I'm staying on I-Drive. It seems to be where all the action is. However, I will be heading over across the street from the Holiday Inn on TG Lee to get my steak at Longhorn.

Haven't tried the Longhorn. I've been to the Bonefish Grill a couple of times. Good steak?

That's kinda what I was planning on doing. There are affordable flights that leave at like 6-7 on Monday evening, which should allow for a little bit of schedule push. Tuesday's also a possibility for all the reasons you listed, just not sure if I want to pay for another day of car/hotel. On the other hand, that's still probably cheaper than change fees on two non-SW airline tickets!

As you said, hopefully if anything major pops up we'll know here soon and then I can adjust plans accordingly...
-----------
Saw some of the posts about hotels - we haven't booked those yet either. Leaning towards the Holiday Inn Convention Center (quite reasonably priced) or another HI property as that's where I have most of my points from. Our tour (Gray Line) pickup is at Crossroads.

Trade Child<->Adult?
I bought a block of 6 tickets and they are all Adult.
Have one child going. If you happened to have ended up with a Child ticket and need an Adult, maybe can work out a trade near the security gate or something.

Per how we always do this, we keep everything in one thread. This is the thread people know to come to for everything to do with viewing, including ticket offers. Having a sep thread for this will attract scammers, so that's why we do it this way.

I will be there too... same as last launch.
Not everybody are geeky like us spending many long hours refreshing web pages.
These Causeway packages will be worth a fortune as we get closer to launch. They are now sold out on Gators site. No more available.

Glad so many people seem to have eventually got what they wanted - especially Madame Concorde! Patience is eventually rewarded....
1) I still have 7th-9th booked at the Holiday Inn Titusville, 266.38 USD, 2 queen beds if anyone should want it (No longer need Causeway ticket currency).
2) I am likely to have one, perhaps two Gator Causeway packages to sell with Victoria Sq Plaza (Merritt Island) pickup. Just looking for cost+shipping.
3) Is anyone from the UK yet-to-book flights? Just wondered if it was worth liaising, would be fun to have some company on the way over. I will be doing price research next week though leaving it as late as possible to book.
If anyone has information on the NASA International guest program and where it fits in the pecking order of viewing locations etc, I'd now be extremely interested ;-) I'm guessing with it being the last launch its just going to be Causeway, is it equivalent/the same to congressional passes? Do congressional Causeway holders just go to same east-end of Causeway as KSC/lottery tickets or do their buses stop on the west end before the drawbridge? I know Banana Creek is only a small area and I expect it will be rammed.....but still daydreaming.....
