And unfortunately I also received the same email. My son and I are coming anyway and will watch the launch from anywhere we can.
Never give up hope!

Just found my "Dear John" e-mail as well.
Congratulations to those that secured tickets. My son and I will go on our prearranged vacation to visit family and watch on TV. We enjoyed STS-127 and would have loved to come back, but it isn't in the cards for us. We had decided causeway or bust since we already had plans. Now if the date slips for any reason, we might rethink the question.

So, like many others of us on here - I got the dreaded email of rejection. Me and my family are flying from the UK anyway and I'm going to try my hand in the mad scramble tomorrow with the tour operators. Can anyone that previously used a tour operator give an indication of previous prices? Is there a different price for adults and kids?
Thanks,
Marcus

Central Floridat Tours will put their launch packages on sale tomorrow.
This is the direct link to their booking page, not active yet.
http://www.centralfloridatours.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=96_103&products_id=115
I suppose that if CFT have their batch of tickets the other transport companies will be getting their tix allotments shortly.
This is a Gator Tours reseller. If it were me I would buy from the most direct source possible. I know that in past launches, there was some controversy over buying from CFT as people supposedly had confirmed tickets that did not turn out to be confirmed.
The two official commercial sellers of KSC causeway tix are FDT and Gator. Anyone else selling tickets is either scalping, or re-selling from FDT or Gator.

Keep an eye on the processing thread if you haven't been. New development that
may bump the launch date. Nothing official yet.
Or better yet, join L2 for the details.

I don't generally encourage this, but if anyone on this list is really desperate to see this launch, Ebay has dozens of tickets [Causeway and VC] available.
However, two warnings:
1. Do the transaction through PayPal, so if this person is unscrupulous, you could get your money back;
2. Be prepared to pay dearly. I saw one set of tickets at nearly US$2,900.00!!
Best of luck to any of you who do this.

Well, I've got Contingencies on paper and some wiggle room in my countdown schedule, too.

Repeating my post from the last two missions as there is no faster way to find out what the deal is with a Shuttle launch date/issues than this site.
As someone who goes to every launch, this site has saved me time and time again with the level of info and amount of NASA folk on here.
Here's my tip from STS-135
Follow the STS-135 news articles Chris writes here.
http://www.nasaspaceflight.com/tag/sts-135/Follow the STS-135 processing thread here.
http://forum.nasaspaceflight.com/index.php?topic=25342.0And if you can afford 20 bucks, totally reccomend getting L2, as that gets you sat down with the managers and engineers, literally, and there's no faster way to know what's going on. It's more awesome than you could imagine and it funds this great site.
http://www.nasaspaceflight.com/l2/Then you'll also have STS-135 L2:
http://forum.nasaspaceflight.com/index.php?board=35.0 because it's not just the presentations, video and images you can't get anywhere else, its the updates. You get to know everything that's going on. They had the MOD FRR yesterday and the full set of presentations, like mission baselines and cool graphics and great info were all on there that morning!

This is a major change from 134. If you are planning to get tickets with FDT keep this in mind.
How will I receive my tickets?
* No tickets will be mailed for STS-135
* Tickets must be collected from our office during regular business hours. As always if you cannot collect ticket prior to launch day, they will be taken to the pickup location on the morning of, obviously having to collect them there will delay your boarding slightly.
* Tickets will be available for collection beginning June 30th untill July 7th at 6:00pm.
* Office address: 5601 International Drive, Orlando Florida 32819.

Like many others, I received my "you didn't win the lottery" email. Man, what a let down. Sorry to see I have so much company in disappointment ... and glad some folks here were more lucky.
I want to thank the forum for the fact that I
even knew how to get myself registered for the chance to be on the Causeway.

Wont work for me then!! Got my rejection notice too! They give alternate sites for viewing, out of the sited they list which do you all prefer? Ive been at Spaceview, but looking for something more kid friendly since my kids will be coming this time.
Another question, seems like I recall something about boats, like big tour boats taking people out. Am I recalling correctly, if so anybody done that, and who was it through?

correct, no mailing of tickets. a few reasons: we have no confirmed date that we will have physical tickets in hand. canada postal strike. 18 of the previous 20 launches we have sold have been will call without issue. as always if you cannot collect ticket prior to launch day, they will be taken to the pickup location on the morning of, obviously having to collect them there will delay your boarding slightly

Thanks for the update. I updated my original post. I'm not sure why they left that out of their launch FAQ's for 135.

Hi. My friend got tickets just fine this morning. He doesn't purchase on-line often, so isn't as savvy as me. I offered to do it for him, but he did it.
As a result, he saw a 90-second timer and rushed through things. He got us the VC tickets, but not the lunch w/ astronaut. He saw it listed, but didn't want to take the time because he was afraid he would get timed out.
My son and I were really hoping to do the lunch after the launch. I called the VC and asked if these tickets can be purchased separately for that day and she said the tickets are handled through a 3rd party, and no, the tickets can only be bought as a package. Bummer, we are really disappointed!
Is there any way to still do that lunch? The lady from the VC said I could go to customer service when I get there and ask, but this didn't sound very realistic.
Any suggestions?
P.S. Don't misinterpret me, I am really psyched we got the VC tickets. It's just that the lunch would have been the double-layered icing on the cake, so to speak.
Thanks.

So..... since I'm looking at the tour-bus option now.....
How early do they pick you up on launch day? Is it like midnight or 4AM or what to make the 11:40 launch? Will be staying in Orlando near SeaWorld just curious. Thanks!

There's only around 70 seats for the luncheon, I'd suggest posting here again closer to launch to see if anyone has tickets they're not using.
Otherwise, your KSCVC launch tickets are good for a second visit within 7 days. If your travel plans allow, you might want to book a lunch date either before or after launch via KSC website ordering or by calling them. Their website posts a schedule of visiting astronauts, you may find one of particular interest for your lunch. Note these advance tickets are not refundable.
KSCVC offers Astronaut Encounter at least twice a day on launch days, this is a ~30 minute astronaut presentation followed by a photo session, you and your son can have your picture taken with your astronaut. Astronaut Encounter is included in your admission at no extra charge, but if planning to attend on launch day I'd queue up in line early to make sure you get a seat.

Florida Dolphin Tours has 2 pick-up times: 2:30am for VIP/Causeway packages and 4:00am for Standard/VC package. There is only one pick-up location.
http://www.floridadolphintours.com/content/atlantis-sts-135-vip-packagesGray Line / Gator Tours has a 2:00am pick-up time for their VIP/Causeway package. 3:30am - 4:00am are the times for their VC package. Several pick-up locations are available for either package.
http://www.graylinecfl.com/Space-ShuttleNote if the launch date/time changes, it will only be earlier.
