Congrats to those who've got great news today! I still have my fingers crossed that my email is still make it's way across the pond

Either way I'm flying on the 6th - if anyone has 4 spare causeway tickets, do let me know and I'll bring you something nice from London!

Got notice today that I got Congressional tickets. I'm 3-for-3 on Atlantis launches, so it will be good luck to have me there!
Hey, I'm 3-for-3 on Atlantis launches too. If you give me one of your Congressional tickets, we can practically guarantee this launch for everyone! I think you should give me one for the good of all.

I have still received no email from NASA. I am sure all winners have already received their winning emails by now.
Did anybody else get lucky?

I heard from a guy that bought tickets before that the tickets will be named and that KSC staff only check ID on the vehicle driver and make sure everyone has a ticket. Never has he seen them compare people to tickets since they wouldn't have time to check everyone in time if they did.
Can anyone here verify this?
If i get selected in the lottery and manage to buy more tickets than i need for myself, then i wont be able to sell them to anyone else unless i already have their names?

Dolphin Tours posted a note saying that there are two rounds of winners. The winners notified by KSC today will be able to buy tickets on Friday. After that, they'll send out emails to the second round of winners.
I am guessing the second round will only be able to get Visitor's Center tickets. That is just a guess on my part.

I received an email from my Senator's office that I am on the Waitlist for congressional tickets. Has anyone had that experience? No email from KSC. Madame Concorde, perhaps we will ride with Josh once again?

Oh, that wasn't Dolphin Tours, that was me posting on their wall, non-affiliated

Assuming you're talking about facebook. And yes your guess is 100% correct, as examination of the previous launch threads would reveal.
Unless their systems have royally messed up today and they've only sent 2 winning emails. I haven't found any evidence of any others yet. If they're all out, then the odds are worse than 1/30 this time, when they appeared to be around 1/8 last time.
Holding out a forlorn hope that they might have decided to send them all tomorrow/last minute for some reason, less preparation time for ticket scalpers to get organised with credit card details perhaps? Good luck, all.

it... they... wait, what?
the tickets in the lottery have the following screens:
blue kscvc ticket holders: driving in: your vehicle needs a parking placard on the dash.
walking up to the gate: metal detector and bag check.
walking through the gate: use your blue kscvc ticket to get through the turnstile.
blue kscvc AND orange causeway ticket holders: all of the above, PLUS:
walking into the line for orange causeway tickets: you need to show your orange causeway ticket.
after the photo opportunity, about midway through the orange causeway ticket line: you need to exchange your orange causeway ticket for an "in the case of a scrub" buyback opportunity slip of paper.
that's it. no id check of any kind at any point in the process.
the tickets are 100% unnamed. you could sell them to hitchhikers. absolutely does not matter.
one parking placard per order, and only cars with placards on their dashboards get into the base. if you buy six and sell five and don't give any of them a ride, those five people will need to hitch a lift in some other car with a placard.
maybe the guy you talked to was talking about congressional passes to the causeway, or gator/dolphin buses to the causeway, or nasa employees with car passes driving their friends out to the causeway in their own vehicle, all of which may involve some layer of id check. but the viewing opportunities sold through kennedyspacecenter.com don't have time for any of that.

hi solaria!

if anyone else in the lottery has been notified, they're not tweeting about it. (

My Congressional email indicates that I need to RSVP to NASA, by June 17.
If they do not RSVP by that date, the invitation will be cancelled, and NASA will allocate the spots to other guests on the wait list.

Thanks for the clarification

So the parking placard is only for when arriving to KSCVC by car. So if i decide to go there by taxi since i dont have a drivers license, i need to place the placard in the window of the taxi right

But first things first... I still have not received any mail so fingers crossed!

Unfortunatey it appears that there will not be any Shuttle/ISS viewing opportunities from July 4th through July 20th 2011. Since Atlantis launches on July 8th or 9th, North American ground observers will have no show.
I'm glad I had excellent views of both Discovery and Endeavour chasing/being chased by ISS during 133 and 134. Those were 2 of the greatest sights I have ever seen.
I am disappointed. Maybe a launch slip to the 20th? j/k

They claim they are trying to follow everyone who registers, but are subject to Twitters daily maximums. They aren't following me yet and I registered last time and this....

Here's an update from KSCVC, posted on their Facebook page as a comment. A lot of FB members are lamenting the lack of opportunity and also the number of tickets already on sale at eBay. The last paragraph is extremely distressful. But wanted to post this anyway for everyone wondering what's going on.
"Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex has not sold a single ticket yet. A limited number of people have been selected for the opportunity to purchase tickets during the on-sale tomorrow. If you were selected to purchase tickets, you would have already received an email notifying you. More than likely there will be another opportunity next week, so please stand by. Because of the extraordinarily high demand and limited number of tickets available, only a small percentage was selected for the opportunity."
"Since there have not been any tickets sold yet, the listings on Ebay are more than likely done by ticket brokers who are expecting to purchase tickets from individuals that are able to buy them, and then resell them. We suggest that you use caution if attempting to buy any tickets on Ebay, or other similar sites."
