Just left from Titusville about an hour ago, folks are already piled in there, so if your palnning on watching from Spaceview, you better get on down there, even though itll probably be scrubbed tomorrw, keeping my fingers crossed. Lady came in shortly after we did and said her BIL works for Nasa and he said they are likely going to scrub. (I know, cant trust hearsay) Absoluley gorgeous view of the pad though with the xenons on!!!!!!

I'm at my in-laws 7th floor condo in Merritt Island, facing east, and I can actually see the top part of the shuttle, bathed in the xenon lights, from the balcony. Took some pics with my 500mm lens. Won't post because they're pretty blurry, but its still pretty awesome to me. Gonna look a lot closer tomorrow from the Causeway (though the night view is just beautiful).
Also, you heard it here first, the shuttle will launch tomorrow. You can take that to the bank. The clouds will part and up she'll go. It's actually a pretty-darned nice evening right now.

hi, on a chincy iPod w/ spotty connection so not a lot of capability to search this thread. Have a 4am arrival to ksc. It appears appropriate to expect a fairly smooth drive in. Mainly wondering if it's ok to catch a few Zzz's in parking lot. Thanks.

Just a note, if you're going to Titusville, PLEASE be careful watching for pedestrians in the dark. There's lots of people everywhere as of 430am, and I've seen lots of people walking across the highway in dark colors.
If you'll be walking around Titusville before sunrise please consider something reflective.
On my way into KSC.

Causeway is filling up good. Little breezy, no real bug problems so far.
FDT ran WAY late this morning due to slow speed of filling buses, and the amount of people picking up tickets on-site. We left at least 30 minutes after their stated departure time, and there were still hundreds of people left.

Depends on when you got there I guess. I got there at 12:00, picked up our tix, and our bus left as soon as it was full at 1:30.

Good call!
Beautiful sight, except this time I was even more choked up than usual.

That right... called it the evening of July 7. Had some "inside" info from a meteorologist friend.

How was the traffic after launch? We stayed at KSC until almost 7PM so there was none when we left.

Not as bad as expected. I was on one of the last busses from the causeway, but it took 1 hours before any movment. It only took 1 hour and 30 mins to the 407 on SR528 via the Road 3.
Even with three accidents on the SR528 the totalt trip time was about 3 hours and 15 mins to International Drive in Orlando.

Any word on the SRB ships and when they will be getting into port ??

ETA on the shipping sites seems to say they are expected into port at 8pm and 9pm tonight (Sat), and I've been told they would go through the locks early, c 6am next morning. However, someone on facebook quoted a friend of a friend who's seen a memo from NASA saying due to weather they are delayed and expected Sunday 8-9pm / through the locks Monday morning.
Anyone who can verify/add to this? Many thanks in advance.

You might keep on eye on the FD thread, it would be mentioned there first.

There have been so many people interested in SRB recovery ship viewing I decided to start a new thread.
http://forum.nasaspaceflight.com/index.php?topic=25902.0This helped tremendously on STS-134. I didn't know exactly where to go to see the ships and would have ended up going to the wrong place if there hadn't been a separate thread I could easily check from my phone.
If anyone happens to see a confirmed day/time of when the ships will show up in port I would appreciate if you could cross-post in the SRB recovery thread also in case I don't notice it. Have to try and get some work done today.

I am back at FL 350 MCO - MSP. If anyone awaits a free KSC umbrella, I left one in my Thrifty rental car trunk. Tell them you are Mr. Dansky and it was in the trunk of a beige Ford cop car sized road monster. What a launch! Good to see you guys. One of the amazing things about the whole experience is running into people on the Causeway that I've met at not one but two previous launches. I haven't yet accepted that this is the last Shuttle flight. I'll digest that after Atlantis lands. Godspeed and safe travels everyone!

It was nice meeting you again for this last Space Shuttle launch at the hotel and for Causeway transport and again in the hotel's lobby this morning.
I would go for the umbrella only I think whoever finds it will be taking it away and it will no longer be in the rental car, also the car is probably re-rented by now so there is no need going to Thrifty.
Some one will be lucky to get a free KSC umbrella.
These make great collectibles especially knowing that it's been used for the last launch.
Safe flight back home.

Bon Voyage Madame,
The umbrella might still be there as we had one of the Specialty cars. They come with warning lights that say Change Engine soon and perhaps they will still be cleaning the hydrazine off the roof. Great to see you again. I still think we should go to Baikonur and ride the Soyuz express to the pad!

Wish I could've been there, but it just wasn't in the cards. Thanks to all on this site as I use it to follow the mission as much as I can (despite being quite busy at the moment). I hope to be able to witness a manned launch from Florida one of these days, maybe before too many years go by with any luck (maybe the first DreamChaser launch!)
