Question for you - what lens did you use to snap that pic?
I used the Canon 100-400L on a T2i, so it was 640mm on an 18 megapixel body, cropped down I probably ended up with the same shot an 8 megapixel camera would get at 1,440mm.
Oh, and camera settings were:
Center point focus (with that lens you can't lock it in with manual mode, the focus ring is too easy to accidentally bump)
Center-weighted metering
Aperture priority
Aperture set to f8
ISO auto but capped at no more than 200
RAW+JPEG
I thought about bumping my Ev down a notch or two to try to pickup more detail in the exhaust, but my primary focus was the Shuttle, and using center-weighted metering ended up working out quite well.

I have ONE (1) Gator VIP Causeway with pick-up at Merritt Island (face value). I will not mail the ticket (no time). You can pick-up from me at my hotel in Titusville on the 7th or before boarding. Will provide hotel name, and other info.
Danduc
I also have 1 spare gator causeway ticket leaving from Merritt Island (Victoria Square Plaza) & will sell for face value & will be in a Titusville hotel. So if you need two - you could get one from Danduc & one from me... Just a thought incase you are in need of two & don't want to drive all over. Will be in T-ville starting the evening of July 6th. You will need to rendezvous with my group at the mall during pick-up as there is only 1 boarding pass per group of tickets.
(edit: note that gator causeway ticket pick-up is at Victoria Sq. Mall ON Merritt Island... NOT Merritt Island Mall (which is where gator visitor center ticket holders go for pick-up))

Can anyone confirm if NASA audio will be broadcast on ham radio 442.6 MHz (UHF) as well as AM 1240 and AM 1350?
I was able to pick up STS-134's countdown and mission audio on 146.940 but that repeater was very weak at the LC39a press area and was more noise than signal.
It's ironic that right before launch, there is so much audience noise that the paging system can't be heard on the lawn near the countdown clock.

I will double check, but I don't think audio is carried on 442.600. I'm surprised you had trouble hearing the repeater on 146.940, it should have been very strong there. We will probably have the audio going on our repeater here in Melbourne on 442.400, but that is a bit farther south from where you will be.

Re: Florida Dolphin Tours/Gators Tours ticket pickup:
Will there be any of you doing runs to Forida Dolphin Tours and Gator Tours on July 6 to pick up your tickets?
How far is one office from the other? I looked up FDT on Google maps. They seem to be located nearby the Embry Riddle aviation school. I need to look up Gators Tours and see how distant they are one from the other.
I will have to rely on the public bus system from MCO airport as I will have no rental car.
I was wondering if any of you here will also be picking up their tickets, maybe we could re-group.
Thank you very much in advance for your answers.

I'll be heading to Gator as soon as my flight lands as 17:55 on the 6th, as they are open until 22:00. Dolphin close at 18:00 so I will be going there very early on the 7th (open from 07:00) on my way to KSC. Dolphin, being on ID, are probably most convenient. Gator seem to be approx. 3.5 miles away and a little more off the routes most would be taking, but their extended opening hours certainly help.

Anybody have 5 passes for the KSC Visitor Center that can be used Saturday, the day after the launch? Will be near Cocoa Friday evening. Also looking for recommendations for which bus tour to take if you only have time for one.

Been reading this forum for weeks leading up to the lottery which we didn't win. Thanks to all for amazing info. Ended up purchasing VIP FDT tickets and have a few questions for those who have been to a launch before. Are the FDT tickets the same as what was sent out in the lottery and if so, will there be any issues if I buy a parking placard and just pick up the tickets and drive myself to the ksc. The reason I ask is we have a 4 year old and a 1 year old and my wife isn't too thrilled about being at the busses mercy and also doesn't want to bother others on the bus if our 1 year old wakes up on the wrong side of the bed(or bus). Thanks for any advice and sorry if this has been addressed earlier and I just missed it.

The FDT and Gator buses are separate to the KSC buses-to-the-Causeway and have different colour LTT (Causeway) tickets. You only have a space on an FDT bus to the Causeway, and this will drive directly from the Causeway back to their pickup point, ie NOT via the Visitor Center. So no, you cannot use a placard with these tickets. I think you also need to be on the bus at the pickup point so that you have a space on a bus out to the Causeway, probably also security issues.
A large reason that the tour operators get ticket allocations is because KSCVC do not have enough parking for everyone to drive (hence such a small number of direct lottery tickets) - having coaches bussed in allows far more people to view from KSC property than would otherwise be the case.
