NASA had reserved a few hundreas pounds of cargo for the Dragon flight later this year but IIRC Suff sad during the last pressconference that they probably would not use them. Seems like that have changed now

This just in off the Spacex, SpaceXer, Twitter feed...

"SpaceX will deliver hundreds of kilograms of cargo for crew supplies when Dragon berths with the Space Station later this year".

Does not sound like a cheese wheel this time.

I wonder if the Soyuz crash has anything to do with that, and what they will be delivering.

Hope it does, but am kicking back, relaxing, and awaiting the customer sign off on the mission plan proposal. No rush.

Cheese is good, but that's a *lot* of cheese!  I'm still hoping they'll send a "berth-day cake" ... :D

Edit: Just occurred to me -- it could be a cheesecake ... ;)

Sounds like a hundred of cheese wheels.

This is the one chance SpaceX has to rise above.   IMHO, SX should forget about adding risk launching other payloads with this mission, and focus on this ISS mission.

Given the current cheese consumption rate on the ISS how long do you think all these cheese wheels will last?  ;)

You *can* infer the implications of this to the C2/C3 flight by yourself, right?

Test flight without station rendezvous? So it will be back to separate COTS 2, 3 flights?

Great.
I'm sure glad NASA is spending $3+ billion on SLS & only $300+ million on CRS.

Why would they split them back? What's the point?

COTS 2 would take off and attempt rendezvous after the spacestation had been evacuated.  The rendezvous process assumes that the spacestation is manned so the crew can control the docking.  Without a docking SpaceX cannot perform COTS 3.

You're not getting what I'm asking. What is the rush to perform a separate C2 all of a sudden if the station is unmanned?

Ain't gonna happen.

What rush?  November + December is when SpaceX is planned to do C2 and C3.

The rush to fly a separate C2 flight as opposed to waiting ISS is remanned again.

I thought they where ready for the COTS 2 flight, the pacing item was the extra items needed for COTS 3. Hence why they have not yet flown this year.

Do you mean because you cannot / should not berth with an unmanned ISS?

They aren't flying that close together

C2 can be done with an unmanned ISS.  This means that the Dragon's navigation system will be tested before the C3 flight.  If any faults are found in the hardware and software they can be cured before C3.
