For those who have tried to read that page on iOS devices and had the scroll bar not show up, here's a direct link to the mission page -

http://msdb.gsfc.nasa.gov/MissionData.php?mission=COTS%20SpaceX%20Demo-3

It to says "deleted"

I wouldn't put anything into this.  Many other things have to change before this reflects reality.  It could be due to a budget issue a change in the launch date, etc

Also the #2 mission still only shows "(ISS rendezvous)" and not "(ISS rendezvous and berthing)" which is the wording for Cots-3.

There is a rumor that NASA will allow the combination of COTS-2 and 3:

In the comment section, one person is saying that this rumor has been confirmed by Musk in a company meeting.

I'd trust Alan Lindenmoyer more when he "said that NASA still studying whether to combine next 2 SpaceX COTS demo flights."

It seems to me that what is likely is that SpaceX is now proceeding as though the COTS 3 objectives will be added to the end of the COTS 2 mission, while still waiting to hear from NASA about whether they can actually go ahead and combine the flights. That way, the best case is NASA says yes, and they are already mostly prepared. The worst case is NASA says no, they have to fly the COTS 2 flight separate and they've lost a some time on work that could provide experience for COTS 3, so it's not a huge loss.

I remember reading just that. That SpaceX was assuming for now that NASA will accept this recommendation.

So presumably they'll be planning to load the beast with goodies for the ISS.  Guess there'll be cheese to go round, LOL.
It'd be a waste if they didn't.

And maybe a nice cheesecake.  It's important to make a good impression when you visit someone's place for the first time.   ;)

A bottle of Champagne in the trunk that Dextre can pull out and throw back at Dragon.

If they really have decided to COTS demo 1 and 3 then Dragon will probably spend a week doing testing on orbit doing stuff like practicing approach to the F9 upper stage etc before actually rendezvousing with ISS.
The the approach would be slow and deliberate like the ATV 1.
Fresh fruit probably would survive the trip or a frozen pizza packed in dry ice.
Maybe icecream packed in dry ice or a thermoelectric freezer.

it would so be worth it to see some of the reactions here if there was a huge Dominos logo on the shroud next time around
Tried to tell you, we did.  Listen, you did not.  Now, screwed we all are.

I know you guys are having fun but, everytime the COTS 2 banner comes up on the nasaspaceflight.com homepage, I think it's going to be news about combining COTS 2&3. Instead, I get to hear about a Domino's logo on the Dragon trunk. Oh, the futility of it all.

SFN article about DEMO 2/3 combo:

http://www.spaceflightnow.com/falcon9/003/110213cots2/

"There were a number of observations tracked during the flight that need to be resolved before the next one," said Alan Lindenmoyer...It's just a matter of routine engineering analysis that has to be done to correct those observations."

Could be that small thruster issue that was brought up, of course just speculation on my part.

Not possible.  Elon said everything on the flight went perfectly.    ;)

"There was nothing significant I think would hold up the next flight," Lindenmoyer said. "It's just a matter of routine engineering analysis that has to be done to correct those observations."

There were a number of observations tracked during the flight that need to be resolved before the next one," said Alan Lindenmoyer, manager of NASA's commercial crew and cargo program at the Johnson Space Center in Houston. "Nothing major, but certainly things that need to be addressed before SpaceX attempts the next demonstration flight."

Nothing personal corrodedNut but, you combined parts of two different quotes to produce a different tone or response.

Now that's orbital space debris worth generating!
