Having followed these events for years and especially on this  extra historic and  special day of today - congratulations are in order to SpaceX and to Elon for his fundings initially. ::)

It reminds me of watching the early days of the Mercury Redstone launches - especially yesterday when seeing the 'cherry picker' up against Falcon 9. :D

Then the tense minutes of the entry sequence of waiting and watching for the parachutes to billow out and a splashdown to occur. [OK with Mercury Redstone maybe Atlantic Ocean as opposed to todays Pacific Ocean but the analogy is there.]

Hmm, isn't the press conference supposed to start soon? (in a minute?) My NASA TV feed still shows some ISS training footage.

EDIT: never mind, looks like it is starting soon now.
