I've never been a sports fan but this must be what it's like to have your team win the superbowl. Congratulations SpaceX!

The first American splashdown since the Apollo-Soyuz Test Project, 24 July 1975!

Actually, is this the first American parachute recovery of any spacecraft since 24 July 1975?

Congrats to SpaceX on this important day for the future of commercial spaceflight!  I don't think I've ever seen a single live thread on NSF with as much action as we've had:  Launch, Orbit Ops, Microsatellite deployment,  Info of 1st stage recovery, Re-entry, Parachute deployment, Splashdown!  Wow!

Well, these last few hours have been exciting and wonderful. I get the impression that a lot of people feel the same way. Congratulations to all involved!

I'm sure this capsule will be torn apart for analysis. But when it is reassembled, it should go to a museum.

(no, you have Stardust, Genesis)

Beat me to it -- but it might be argued that Genesis doesn't count as a parachute recovery :P

Amazing.
Looks like 100% successful mission!
If 1st stage is/will be recovered too, it might even encroach onto 101% territory!

Corona?

...and I certainly add my congratulations.  SpaceX has now had more successful launches than failures and this one may go down as their most spectacular success for how much happens in so short of time.

Now the champagne bottles can be uncorked.  ;D

Congratulations SpaceX, may this be the first of many.

And maybe, on to Mars.
