Interesting!!! I like this shot of the heatshield:

No JZ of CNN knows rockets, the guy that was at CNN was just clueless about all this.  Guess rocket nerds like us are a small breed :)

The ;) crew has been given a go for deorbit burn and to begin entry interface operations.

Just got around to watching the webcast recording and one thing struck me compared to the last launch. Notice how the 1st stage appeared to slide sideways shortly after separation. I wondered if they perhaps made some tumble-inducing fixes for reentry (to me, tank venting seems too weak to do that).

Upon further consideration, though, watching the droplets come from the umbilical disconnect it looks as if the 2nd stage was actually showed "right" from the camera point of view. Could a GOX vent give that much of a kick?

Remember, there was caution relating to success on all the milestones, so if Dragon returns without issue, that really will be something.

This sure doesn't look nominal. Luckily, F9 dodged this bullet (again, in the first flight it had another close call - with the rotation).

The rotation at lift-off of flight 1 was a close call. This? Hardly. Did you look at the video 'joshcryer' posted?

With this kind of sensationalism, how would the Delta IV fireballs of early launches be portrayed? That was not a big deal. This is even less of a big deal.

From the DragonCam it looks like one smooth ride to orbit on that first stage!  No vibrations at all.

It is not a flash burn.  there is still burning after the flash

It is a problem.  Jim is totally corect, it is highly unlikely that is what it was meant to do.  SpaceX will have to evaluate it and make some fix somehow, someway.  It happens and SpaceX still had a very successful launch and it will not be a "show-stopper" by any means.

To be fair, there was some over-the-top criticism of DIVH after the charring.

I mention last time that parachute system could be cooked by send stage engine. This tumbling will protect parachute system
Spacex awesome day, I was shaking during last minutes count down and first second of flight.

Looks like a nominal launch with the exception of the stage 2 fuel (or oxidizer) fill and drain hose ignition. They will have to do some work to determine what caused this and how to fix it, but it was not an issue on flight 1. Falcon seems to have preformed without question. Now I congratulate them and wish Spacex good luck on dragon re-entry and landing.

Couple of questions: Any word on stage one recovery or did stage one disintegrate again?

Question two: Timeline until re-entry?

Oh that one. That is footage after arriving in orbit - But not the ride to orbit. (AFAIK)

But is not on the way TO orbit but ON orbit. Have a look at the time stamp inserted in the video.

Last update I saw on stage recovery said they had a signal and a boat (one of the SRB recovery ships presumably) was steaming to its location to see if its there.
