Looking very good so far. Sources note one of the Dracos has failed - within tolerance. Internally they are seeing video at SpaceX, shame they aren't streaming it.
Interesting! It would be fascinating to see it streaming right now!

I guess it's a good thing, since it allows us to get a couple hours of work done! ;)

Did not look like an "explosion" just a fireball, explosions have shock waves and shrapnel, this was just a burn, just in a odd place.

Oh and the guy on CNN has never seen a rocket...ever....

And it was just the extension anyways, not really "needed"

It pains me to hear that...

You can get away with trimming parts off of your vehicle and then flying hours later in an experimental flight.

I guarantee you that would not happen if your payload was a $B+ NRO payload or a $500M+ NASA science spacecraft, or a $500M plus commercial (insured) comm sat.

Stage 1 recovery—they have telemetry and radar on one of the Talon Pods—boat steaming that way.

I think this has been a bit overplayed. It wasn't as bad as the Delta IV T-0 fireballs we've seen in the past. It's definitely worth refining (as ULA seems to have done recently with Delta IV), but I doubt this caused enough damage to be the long pole in the pad flow.

No, it hasn't been over played.  launch vehicles don't have fireballs on the umbilical towers

I don't know how many folks were watching the NASA TV feed, but during second stage flight, it didn't show the rocket cam - it showed the convoy heading to the pad. The umbilical tower was very visibly blackened for at least half the structure. The very top was still white but most of the way down was all black.

At the very least, they have a repaint to do. Still, this is the sort of reason why flights like this exist - to iron out these problems.

Anyone know what talon Pods  are?  Sounds very promising that they are receiving telemetry from the first stage still must mean that its relatively intact. Cant wait for pictures.
