Seems like KARI web page mentiones about the bidding information only. I assume the bid process has not been finalized and launch vehicle has not been selected yet.

Anybody has any information if H-2A would be a preferred launch vehicles as it was on Kompsat-3A?

Dnepr will launch Kompsat-3A in 2013. Komsat-3 will be launched by H-2A in 2012.

SC declared ready to ship. Korea should have official news release of the shipping plan any day now.

Well I guess with no news till now it's not going to launch on January 22?  ;)

Sounds like this news report is pointing to launch in February and this one is pointing to late February, but since even K-Pop failed to encourage me to learn Korean, can anyone who can read them check if the info above is correct? Thanks!  :)

Hmm the Russians are saying that they are suspending all Dnepr launches again - another round of bureaucratic struggle?  ::)

Was this posted elsewhere here on NSF?

February 10, 2015
"Russian military allowed to launch Russia-Ukraine Dnepr rocket with South Korean satellite"
http://tass.ru/en/non-political/776758

Quoting from the article:
"But International Space Company (ISC) Kosmotras CEO Alexander Serkin told TASS the company will fulfill all its commitments on launches of Dnepr carrier rockets with foreign spacecraft under earlier signed contracts. In his words, Kompsat-3A is to be launched in March. Another two Dnepr launches are scheduled for 2015.

"Our international partners have nothing to worry about, we will fulfill all commitments we undertook," he stressed then."

The 2 other 2015 Dnepr launches are 2 Iridium NEXT satellites and PAZ, correct?

Curious,

Correct. You may want to have a look at the dedicated planned Russian launches thread

Questions about the planned sun-synchronous orbit for this satellite:

I've read a source stating 685 km circular, which would imply an inclination of approx. 98.1 degrees?
http://www.wmo-sat.info/oscar/satellites/view/481

But I've also read a source stating 528 km circular x 98.5 degrees.
http://www.spaceflight101.com/kompsat-3a.html

Gunter's Space Page orbit information appears to refer to the already-launched Kompsat-3
http://space.skyrocket.de/doc_sdat/kompsat-3.htm

The KARI (Korea Aerospace Research Institute) English-language website has a page for Kompsat-3, but I could not find a mention of Kompsat-3A there.
http://eng.kari.re.kr/sub01_01_02_02

What is the correct planned orbit?

The World Meteorological Organization web page (link above) listed the orbit's ECT = Equatorial Crossing Time? as 10:50 ascending.

If this is correct, does this mean that the LTAN (Local Time of Ascending Node) is 10:50 local time?

And finally, if the correct orbital parameters are discovered, can an approximate launch time be determined?

(I've tried to find primary sources, or as close as I have the skill to find, and then show my sources.  I hope I haven't referred to any secondary news sources that the forum-at-large do not wish to see referred to.)

Confirmed by ISC Kosmotras - exact liftoff time is planned at 22:08:46 UTC (while it listed 23:08 UTC, I think this is a time zone mistake since it also listed it as 3:08:46 am local, which should be UTC+5).

Great article.  I've always been curious what rockets were involved with FOBS.  Any confirmation of a webcast for the launch?

I wouldn't be hopeful-previous launches for KARI have had no broadcast.
