Last docked day article....and sorry if I went a bit political in this, but some things need to be said:
http://www.nasaspaceflight.com/2010/05/sts-132-atlantis-iss-set-to-bid-farewell-for-likely-the-final-time/
As someone who is not very political or technical and grew up watching
Apollo flights on the BBC with the great Patrick Moore the Shuttle is
indeed a trully amazing machine. But in this world of 24 hr rolling news and X Factor politics apart from the cost of Shuttle launches the fact is there is no real escape system once she is climbing the hill unlike previous crafts and I think this still worries the politicians etc.
Having said that to end the Shuttle program without a viable replacement
is so wrong and I hope we havent seen the last of Atlantis.
Great site, very informative as usual

It's mainly an article on MER info anyway
Very inspiring Chris! Political be damned. I'm impressed you went out on this one and showed some of the true feelings, and statements by many that bare witness to the injustice, and the seriousness, of the situation.
Excellent.
She was a grand sight to see go up
Totally agree. Great article Chris.

For FD-9.
From ISS Daily Report for 22/05/2010:
With Piers Sellers & Garrett Reisman operating the SSRMS, the ICC-VLD, carrying the six old P6 Truss batteries, was successfully transferred to the Shuttle PLB and berthed securely for return.
Preparatory to tomorrow’s Atlantis undocking, Noguchi reconfigured the O2 (oxygen) transfer equipment from its pre-breathing configuration and initiated the pump-over of gaseous O2 from the Shuttle to the ISS HPGT (High Pressure Gas Tank) on the outside of the A/L. [MCC-Houston performed the necessary reconfiguration of the A/L CCAA (Common Cabin Air Assembly). Transfer of a total of 73 lbs of O2 has been approved.]
Later, Soichi terminated N2 (nitrogen) transfer from Atlantis to the ISS.
Kornienko & Skvortsov spent several hours on cargo transfer from the newly arrived MRM-1 module to the ISS, and then Mikhail installed a VD1 air duct between MRM-1 and the FGB for ventilation.
STS-132 Undock Events:
. Local sunset – 3:07 PM GMT.
. Undock – 3:22 PM GMT.
. Initial Sep. – 3:23 PM GMT.
