I want to add my thanks to Ron for the excellent play-by-play. I watched the beginning of the EVA at home but then had to go to work. Ron's posts kept me current through the rest of the spacewalk.
Also thanks to Chris G for the fine article on EVA-1. I particulary apppreciated the backround info on the SGANT and the interview comments from the lead engineer.

Nice words AC - it was a nice addition to have interview quotes (Chris conducted the interview) in the article.

Briefings delayed again, won't be 4pm Central, but they don't have a time yet. Going to conflict with the Japanese launch at this rate.

Ok, great. I'll transcribe at least the opening statements before having to head over to the Japanese launch (T-0 at 44 minutes past the hour).

From ISS Daily Report for 17/05/2010:
STS-132/ULF-4 EVA-1 was completed successfully by EV1 Garrett Reisman & EV2 Steve Bowen in 7h 25m, accomplishing all objectives, with a minor modification.
Before the EVA, FE-5 Noguchi installed the crew restraint in the Cupola.
During EVA-1, Reisman & Bowen:
. Installed a redundant Ku-band SGANT dish and boom on the Z1 truss
and connected power & data cables.
. Installed the EOTP on the SPDM.
. Prepared for P6 battery replacement during EVAs -2 & -3 by breaking
torque on bolts holding the new batteries to the ICC-VLD.
Because of an observed 1 millimeter gap between the SGANT and the SGANT boom, the previously removed SGANT gimbal lock bolts were re-engaged, and Reisman & Bowen tied down the SGANT to the boom with tethers for the time being.
While Creamer & Ham provided campout & prebreathe support, FE-2 Caldwell-Dyson & MS-4 Piers Sellers operated the SSRMS.
PLT Tony Antonelli acted as IV support crewmember, and MS-2 Michael Good was in charge of photo/video activities.
Timothy Creamer deployed new SODF (Station Operations Data Files) material in the USOS. [In the Lab, TJ replaced the old POC (Portable Onboard Computers) book for 15A with a new STS-132-delivered version for Exp. 23, the Lab Window Shutter Constraints cue card with a new one, and moved the T2 treadmill cue card to the new T2 location in Node 3.]

FD Emily: Got through all the challenges and had a successful day.
Station crew were also busy, with Russian crewmembers preping for MRM-1 and fixing contingency air masks. Transfers too. Overall it was a very successful day.
Lead Spacewalk Officer: The EVAs were a challenge to train, weren't sure how the timing would go until they got out there. Garrett got to take his big ride on the boom. Small hangup with the bolts on the boom. Had to bump up the torque on the PGTs. Power glitch slowed down our robotic operations.
Garrett and Piers worked very well. When driving the four bolts on the boom there was a bit of a gap. Upped the torque to make it more stable, but were still uncomfortable. Cloth tether was added around the bottom of the dish. Second electrical connected during soft dock had problems. Thought it might be thermal. Connector was eventually mated.
Did not remove the gimbal locks from the SGANT, due to the small gap between the boom and the dish.

LeRoy:
Couldn't be more pleased with how the mission is going. Atlantis continues to perform exceptionally. No new issues.
Discussed status at the MMT, such as the OBSS cable. We think it's a relatively simple EVA task. By tomorrow morning we'll have a discussion about that EVA task, to see if we can add it as early as EVA-2. Feel pretty good we should have a task that won't interfere with the tasks. Better overall picture of that tomorrow.
Team is evaluating the inspection data. So far we have no requirements for a FI. We have areas that we have not had enough imagery or not completed assessments, so that effort is ongoing. Talked about adding some more inspections to the timeline tomorrow. Decided that was not a good option. Focus is on MRM-1, it's a new task and potentially has some challenges and unknowns.
Still have time to assess to see if we need more inspection data. DAT is continuing on with their normal evaluations.
Team continues to perform at a very high level. Crew is really on top of their game.

Philip gets first question

Asking about the C&C:
No root cause yet, caps on the new connector had terminators that provide continuality to the point there was a suspected failure (was a more complicated answer). Maintained communcation via S-Band. Ku was not considered to be a critical asset so we allowed for Ku to reset. Re-routed the arm cameras/video system, which took the most amount of time.
Bill H on inspections:
There is still a possibility we will get all the data we need with Late Inspections, so there's no need for inspection data when docked. Question is if there's any areas we want or need to look at when docked. We have a little bit more time to look at that. Won't be earlier than FD7.
Got to leave this for the Japanese launch now. John 44 will have the video.

And the JAXA launch scrubs! Catching up.
Robert P: MRM-1 berthing challenges.
A) Most of the challenges are associated with the newness of the task (Russian module with a Canadian arm, docking mechanisms, communication path Piers will be using). Laptop will be located in the Cupola, connected via internet to the Russian section, back from communcation to the US section. It's a long path. Did a great deal of testing, which was successful, we have good expectations.
Mark C on timeline for MRM-1:
A) There's a period of time when we shut power off when in the payload bay, after grapple. Take it out of the bay. SSRMS will have power available. There's a clock on power down to power up. External hardware with survival heaters is the clock, not the module itself. 5-10 hours.

Mark K on arm ops.
A) MRM-1 will be 0.6fps. Shuttle docking was 0.1 fps. Garrett has max speed limit. Manual control means he can go at his speed, but not past the max speed.
Marcia on antenna problems.
A) Prelim answer within days. Day or two is the hope.
Asking for a Debris update?
A) No new numbers. We're at where we expect to be in that part of the process. Will have some more information in a couple of days.
Todd H on timeline changes with no FI for FD5.
A) There will be some activities in that timeline. Team has a shopping list. No exact tasks to hand.
MRM-1 timeline is roughly the same timeline, but ahead by 30 minutes via grapple.
Question on EVA impacts.
A) Only the gimbal locks need removing on SGANT, and maybe retorques. 30-40 minutes of work for a single crewmember. We'll just have to see how EVA-2 and EVA-3 go.
Q) Has the C&C ever happened on an EVA before.
A) Don't know. In the transition there was a loss of suit data. Crew can monitor their own suit data anyway. 2-5 minutes to go from primary to secondary. 10-15 minutes to get the video routing back.

Didn't she say 0.06fps? And that Souyz/Progress docks at 0.3-0.6fps and 10 times faster than tomorrows activities?
