Sry about the post above. Doing this on my iPhone.
Just got our placard and we will be at the Saturn v center with the astronaunt families. I'm not sure how my contact pulled this off but we are stoked. The NASA employee will be in the car with us though.
Will anyone else from here be in that area??

I'm going to the launch! First time in a long time, and I'm bringing my family with me. Here are my plans, I have some questions, and would appreciate any answers.
Option #1: Go to Port Canaveral and park off the side of 401 a couple hours before launch and watch from there.
Option #2: Take 528 east and turn North on US 1, follow Indian river and get as close to Titusville as possible, stopping before the traffic/parking gets too much.
I would also like to go to KSCVC (I don't have launch day tickets), since I don't have time to go back next day, it has to be launch day. I called the VC and they said that normal hours and admission polices take effect after the launch, open till six, we'd have about 3 hours to visit.
Has anyone ever tried this? Is it crazy to try? Is the traffic too bad? Three hours doesn't sound like much, but my 4-year old son can't sit through Imax shows and bus tours anyway, although I would like to go to the Saturn V center.
Option #1 might mean less traffic going towards the VC if I take RT 3 up Merritt island, the VC said the roadblock there is removed soon after launch, but how soon? Has anyone tried that either?
Thanks

Well it's too bad we didn't get any special guests, but it was great meeting so many of you and Chris G said is was probably the second largest turnout.
The word is a get together for the tweet-ups (and any from NSF) to meet at FishLips in Port Canaveral at 6:30pm tonight. See you there!

Hi Guys
Well what a beautiful launch that was today - my first one..
Great to see in person and after coming such a long way (Melbourne Australia) I can say it was well worth the effort (and cost) in getting here.
But I had a bit of an issue with my photography skills out on the Causeway today - i had the camera all setup on the tripod ready to go along with my nice new HD video camera ready in hand to capture the event, but in my excitement just at launch I bumped the tripod, quickly tried to reposition it but couldn't and didn't want to miss any of the launch, so I pressed record on the camcorder instead to get the video - but much to my dismay upon checking video when back in the bus but I hadn't hit record!

So I dont have any snaps or video of the launch - I got a few shots about 2mins in but that's it!
My family and friends back home are going to give me hell!!
Could any of you who were on the causeway today email me a couple of shots of the first 30 sec's or so of the launch??
Would really appreciate it - the higher the resolution the better even if you have to send a few emails.. My Email address is below my sig.
Also where might I find a HD video of today's launch (hopefully from the causeway)?
Many Tks and hope you all had a great day also...

Sorry to hear your pics and videos didn't work out. You made the right choice to watch the launch in person, however. Your best bet is to go over to youtube over the coming days and search for "STS132 launch causeway". You'll find plenty of videos and some of them will likely be in high quality.

Here is an HD one for you:
Double click on it so you can see it in HD on youtube. This isn't my video but one I just found on youtube shot from the Causeway.

Hi David
Yes it was great in person, thanks for the YouTube HD clips, that's great.
But I would really like some good high res photos, so hopefully someone might email me some.
I wanted to make a DVD of my trip and print some shots out also so the YouTube stuff isn't always som good resolution wise.
I am sure someone will have some from the causeway today

Many tks
Frosty

I'll get some causeway HD video up tonight. I was around the mid-east end, where the second "gap" between the trees was. My videography wasn't the best, but it still looks pretty spectacular.
Might also have some pictures, will see how they turned out.
