I see this probably getting deleted right away, because it violates just about every tenet of online etiquette ever. But I have to try. Apologies.
There has to be someone here who live around the Cape Canaveral area.
Me and my traveling companion from Iowa (I'm from Nashville, TN) have procured tickets for the STS-132 launch this Friday, May 14th at the Kennedy Space Center. However! We failed to realize that it's impossible to get into the base without a vehicle placard, which is most unfortunate, because we don't have one.
So...are there any peeps going to see the shuttle launch who might be able to provide a ride? We can be anywhere around the city that you like. We have the tickets, we just don't have a vehicle placard. I will bake you a cake in the shape of the shuttle if you want. We're just /really/ trying to go see the shuttle launch. Message or reply. You will have my eternal love!
Again, I apologize, I normally wouldn't go the forum posting route. I'm just about out of any other options, and this is my last chance to see a shuttle launch. (I'll be busy during the last few.) Flame me if you like, I'll have my asbestos suit on.

I have a hotel reservation in Melbourne for Friday and Saturday night. It was the closest I could get to Cocoa Beach that wasn't a fleabag hotel. I checked what was available today...just for fun. And found a few hotels have opened up and are available.
I had refundable reservations. So I cancelled my reservation in Melbourne, and now have a room on the Beach at Cocoa Beach...Yay!

I plan on coming to view this launch, this will be the first one I came to see since I was a kid with sts-91, where's the best spot to come and view it for free?
The other week I was at the Haulover canal area and on the south east side of the area I found a few hard to access spots that had a decent view of both pads. Not sure if that area is off limits during a launch or not.
Anyone got some ideas? I need to know by tomorrow after noon.

I can't make the Friday launch, but I'm crossing my fingers for a 24-hour turnaround and I'll be making the trek from TN with family overnight to get to Titusville or Daytona area (sorry to anyone fixed on Friday

).
If there is a Saturday afternoon launch, does anyone have an approximate launch time (I can't find it on NASA site or here).
Thanks.

Yeah, we got them on eBay while we had a ride lined up, but now that ride has fallen through. Blast it!
So we have tickets, but no way to get onto the base. It's most distressing, we are trying everything to find a ride.

So if you are at the Visitor Center for the launch. Where is the best place to be to get the best view from the VC. Thanks!

people here and the KSC tour operator said to essentially park at JCPenney ( on US1 just south of downtown Titusville) and walk across the street.
Also, apparently there is a parking scam where people will park your car behind a taped off area for a fee. So be careful.
Expect a LONG delay getting home though.

On this website this guy documented it pretty well:

Yeah, pretty much anywhere in Titusville is good. Drive along the river on US1...find someplace that you can see the pad. There's quite a few places.

Quick question:
So I've got a Dolphin Tours package. My current plan is to come back on Saturday via my own transportation to the KSCVC to actually take advantage of the second day of admission. Can I drive myself to VC on Saturday, or do I need to get a parking pass somehow (I assume the Dolphin package doesn't include that)?
Also, I'm guessing I'm not going to be able to do any of the extra tours?

If the launch is not scrubbed on frday, all visitors center activities are available, and driving a personal car not a problem...It is best to book tours in advance as they do sell out on weekends.

Hola!
Long time lurker and first time poster. STS-132 will be my 3rd launch and I cannot wait!!!
Quite a few of my wife's relatives live in and around the Merritt Island area and we just got a call stating that they have a VIP Placard for their car in hand. Can anyone elborate where we will be seeing this launch from? I was thinking it will be either by the countdown clock or the Saturn V Center but wasn't sure.
Even if its at the causeway I really dont care, this will be my closest viewing spot yet!
Thanks!
