Says: "....It's a great way to enjoy a beach day during your vacation as well as have a good view of the space shuttle lift off - you are approx 12 miles away viewing up the coast as it takes off over the Atlantic Ocean - it is a great view."
http://www.launchphotography.com/Shuttle_Launch_Viewing.html says it's 14 miles away and obstructed.

I see some companies do a launch day kayak tour. That looks like it would be pretty cool, however, as with anything else, they're all sold out. I have my own kayaks, though. How close could I get, and will it be clear where I can and can't be so that I don't mysteriously disappear off the face of the earth after an FBI scuba diver jumps from the water and pulls me in? Just want a decent view!

WOw, there are visitor center tickets already on sale on ebay? HOW!!
And man they arent cheap.
Oh well I loved the view we ahd last year from titusville. I just wish the state of FL would open all toll booths after a launch. Going back to Orlando last year after the launch was miserable. ANd this year I will have a pregnant wife in tow

You notice bathrooms are scarce on that bee line expressway?

Cocoa is more than 12 miles. Titusville is 12 miles. Closest point in Cocoa is closer to 14 I believe.
Still trying to figure out what to do next. Going to look for people selling them on craigslist/ebay. Ordering from Dolphin worries me as there's no option if scrubbed once you're on the causeway...but may go ahead and take that risk, as it's better than nothing.

Gator has some Cocoa Beach tickets.....?not sure how good they are

Unless that's the pick up site (and it doesn't sound like it from your followup), don't do it! For one thing, Cocoa Beach is public access; you don't need to pay a tour bus to take you there (though I suppose it will make dealing with traffic more pleasant). For another, along US-1 in Titusville will be a much better view.

I found this message darkly amusing. If they're all sold out, why is it still refreshing the waiting room?

That is downright immoral and unethical-and not what the Astronauts would want.or NASA. How can they do this?

I think that after all the scumbags get their $500 per LTT on ebay, legitimate sellers who cannot use their tickets will be selling them for much more reasonable prices.

Capitalism...not that I like it, but the demand is driving the price.
What's ticking me off is the ticket brokers (such as ebay "**ticket-solution**) that some how managed to get a lot of tickets and are just turning them around for a 500% profit.
