The difference is the Gator ticket is considered used once you board the bus no matter if launch or scrub, with no option to reuse or purchase another one. The KSC LTT tickets are used also, however in the event of a scrub you DO have the opportunity to purchase new causeway tickets (albeit at a lower price).
Hmph. No LTT today, back to my regularly scheduled day. :\

The important thing to remember (for all) is that once the bus picks you up, you're out of luck with your tour. So for the little extra money, it's worth trying for the KSC LTT ticket. That way you can get a new ticket at no charge if it scrubs.
That is not correct.
Both tickets are considered used the moment you board the bus. This is from the conditions in the KSC LTT ticket:
If you board a bus to the NASA Causeway and launch is postponed, all elements of this ticket are considered used in full. While you will no longer be able to access the NASA Causeway, you will be invited to return for the next launch attempt with your Visitor Complex admission ticket.
I guess the LTT would be the advantage then, because you still have the car pass, so you can buy a pass for a retry launch in case of a scrub and you wont have to worry about arranging for bus transportation since Gator may not provide it.

They hand out passes to buy a new ticket at around $25 each.

In the event of a scrub you have to go to the front ticket window where another causeway ticket can be purchased. Like the online mad rush for tickets, that sometimes can cause a scramble at the ticket lines so you want to head there first thing once the bus pulls back into the VC.

If the VC is a closed for the day except for people with tickets then surely if there is 5000 people there, and 5000 tickets then everyone should be accommodated. Or am I missing something?

That should be the case, however on two occasions I had to do that after a scrub and they did not take any verification at the window that you were originally a causeway ticket holder. Some who were already at the VC using the KSC viewing tickets did go to the window to try to purchase LTT tickets --and got them. So if enough people think to do that, there go the tickets that should be available to the original causeway folks. Another issue with this is the KSC staff will tell you tickets will be available for purchase at xx time, come to the window at that time--that has been false in the past, the tickets are available right away at the window after the scrub. So again, if you listen to the KSC staff and not attempt to repurchase right away...
I do not know how many folks have been inconvenienced by this but to avoid finding out the hard way, I attempt to repurchase without hesitation.

As far as I understood the process when I was there the story is like this:
There are a lot of people there who have just KSC VC Tickets and not LTT Tickets. If the scrub occurs at T-9min., and the LTTs are considered consumed, they too get a chance to purchase LTTs.
So all who know and have time to come for a second attempt (if its a technical scrub and not a 24hrs wx scrub then maybe the next attempt is 1 week later or so, and many people will have to fly home...) rush to the ticket boots.
Sometimes, in case of 24hr scrubs it is done like this: You can come the next day at 6am in the morning and then starts the LTT resale at the ticket boot.

Yes, the VC people have the opportunity to purchase these tickets after a scrub. This may indeed cancel out other people who do have to fly home in which case the original LTT people buy another ticket, and some fortunate VC folks end up with causeway tickets as well.

What is if I miss the planned launch but fortunately (for me) the launch is scrubbed? Can I use my original LTTs?
Or the other way - If I have gator-tour tickets and(!) Original KSC Tickets can I go with gator tours and (if the launch is scrubbed) use my KSC-Ticket set for the 2nd attempt?

As far as I know, KSC LTT Tickets and VC Max. Acces Tickets are valid for the entire mission. So whenever there is a scrub, you can acces the KSC VC.
If you still have your LTT in hand, you can use it to board the bus from VC to the causeway site about 2 hours before launch...

Yep--your LTT tickets are valid until you board that bus so if you miss the original launch attempt, you are in luck as you still have a valid set of LTT tickets. If you go the Gator route, you lose those causeway tickets and the KSC tickets only gain you general admission to the VC. On launch day, the VC is closed to the general public, there are actually separate KSC viewing tickets you need to purchaes in order to watch the launch from the VC.

So if the Visitor Complex people can buy the LTT tickets after the scrub, why can't the people who have Gator Tour tickets? Is that because the Gator Tour bus won't be coming back for the next attempt?
If that's the case maybe I should get the Gator Tour ticket and KSC VC ticket to get the license for my car. So if the launch will be scrubbed while I'm at the causeway I can get a second LTT ticket and drive myself for the next attempt?
Thanks!

Yes, those Gator buses leave right away from the causeway, there is no way to stop off at the VC to attempt to purchase the LTT tickets. Best to get Gator ones for the causeway and KSC viewing ones as backup so if it is scrubbed you can indeed come back on your own and at least watch from the VC.

I had the Gator Tour: In the bus in Orlando, they gave us 2 tickets - One for the Causeway (LTT) and another one for the Visitor Centre (the same one you get from KSC). As long as I do not Board the Causeway Bus (as if I miss the bus), my LTT ticket is still good. But then I need to hitch a ride back to orlando or walk back (which might be faster lol)
