I don't think the virtual waiting room ever worked. I think the server broke down by 8:45 EDST.

I'm not missing out so just bought a Grayhound VIP tour - All booked and Paid for
Frosty (Australia)
I did the same.
The Gator Tours tickets include an extra Kennedy Space Center ticket so the price difference is only $20 and this way I have my causeway ticket assured. Also, no need the spend the rest of the afternoon wondering when the KSC website comes back online.

Is this true that the Gator tours package has an extra ticket above and beyond the KSC LTT package?
I was going to buy year-passes to KSC for me and my wife as the price is so good for those, but maybe the extra ticket and the guarantee of having a ticket is worth the Gator Tours price.
I see that they have a Titusville pickup area, we are staying in Titusville, I feared before that Gator tours only had pickups much further inland.

Perhaps they should borrow some of the webservers from NSF... :p
I think they should have known that this was happening and had some backup capacity!

No, I think that all adult KSC tickets are valid for a second day within 7 days.

Now that the KSC website is down I cannot examine their package more carefully. Does the LTT allow access to the visitors center for launch day plus one other day? Sounds like the Gator package has the same thing, but worded differently.

I bought the annual pass a couple weeks ago.
If I get an extra KSC ticket from Gator tours, I'll just give it to someone when I'm down there.
The important thing to remember (for all) is that once the bus picks you up, you're out of luck with your tour. So for the little extra money, it's worth trying for the KSC LTT ticket. That way you can get a new ticket at no charge if it scrubs.

That is not correct.
Both tickets are considered used the moment you board the bus. This is from the conditions in the KSC LTT ticket:
If you board a bus to the NASA Causeway and launch is postponed, all elements of this ticket are considered used in full. While you will no longer be able to access the NASA Causeway, you will be invited to return for the next launch attempt with your Visitor Complex admission ticket.

I would suggest that anyone who wants updates gets a twitter account and enable text message updates. I received a ExploreSpaceKSC update via text message 10 seconds before it appeared in my live twitter page.

As far as I understand it, the gator tour tickets have a serious disadvantage:
Once you are out to the KSC, if a scrub occurs, your package is gone. (you consumed everything).
The KSC launch viewing tickets work (from my own experience) this way:
If there is a scrub before you are on the causeway, you can come for another try. If the scrub is lets say at the t-9min. hold, at the first attempt the DNC guys usually hand you your LTT passes out once you return from the bus, and you can try one more. If there is a second scrub, you can purchase new LTTs at the gate at a set time for appr. additional 25 USD (or you can view the next attempts for free from the visitor center). Therefore with the KSC tickets you can see the launch at least from the VC, even if there are 5 scrubs. Your max. access pass is valid for every launch attempt, regardless how many attempts there are.

Both KSC and Gator say about the same thing. Once you board the bus (in the bus loading area) to go to the Causeway, they have done their part of the contract with you. If you haven't set foot on that bus and the launch is scrubbed, you can return but Gator Tour will ask you for Transportation cost to bring you back (I think it was 35$ from Orlando). KSC. You get to keep the second ticket which is good for the visitor centre within the next 7 days.
