Launch vehicle statistics
« on: 03/08/2010 05:27 pm »
Does anyone know a reliable *Russian* (not western) list of launches by the Voskhod and Soyuz-U2 boosters, as opposed to the Soyuz-U?

Looking at the Soyuz-U2 statistics, it looks as if some of the photoreconnaissance satellites supposed to have used the U2 have been omitted.   Unless they really did use the U, of course!

Any comments about it?   Is it accurate as far as the Cosmos launches are concerned?

Thank you ....... more than ten years ago I suggested to someone that the Russians were trying to confuse us to death!!   I recall that when they started to name launch vehicles in the launch announcements they would use "Soyuz" whether they meant U or U2, and they rarely distinguished between the two variants for Cosmos launches.

Gunter Krebs has a different listing of Soyuz-U2 launches which includes more Cosmos satellites than does the Novosti Kosmonavtiki forum listing.   See http://www.skyrocket.de/space/space.html and then look at the Soyuz-U2 entry.

I have my own list here :

http://www.kosmonavtika.com/lanceurs/soyouz/liste/11A511U-2.html

I have not found NK's list, but my one is very differents from Gunter's one...

I think that we can conclude that there are still many questions to be answered about the Soyuz-U2 launch record!!

Gunter Krebs has a different listing of Soyuz-U2 launches which includes more Cosmos satellites than does the Novosti Kosmonavtiki forum listing.   See http://www.skyrocket.de/space/space.html and then look at the Soyuz-U2 entry.

...

Any comments about it?   Is it accurate as far as the Cosmos launches are concerned?

No, my list ist not up to date, as i had not the time to go through different newer publications. My R-7 lists needs some rework, which i hopefully will be able to do soon.

So between 1988 and 2000 possibly four more U2s to identify? But used as Us with kerosene? Or were the numbers allocated but never used?

The missing U2s

033 - possibly between the years 1988 to 1995?
057 - 1991 to 1997?
065 - flown under serial 76024355?
066 - 77044356?
067 - 1992 to 1998?
073 - 1994 to 2000?

The 7-sequence 5-digit serial numbers apply to both rocket, fairing and payloard. The first three indicate manufacturer, the next two indicate date of issue and the last three a sequential number.

Soyuz rockets ordered for Don?

7. 1st half of 1993?
8.780513682nd half of 199314.05.199611F660 KometaLaunch failure

I also find it curious that the 8th Don was launched at the time one would have expected the missing Soyuz-FG 013 to have flown.

And some U2s flew as Us!

Pardon???!

http://forum.nasaspaceflight.com/index.php?topic=19832.msg517003#msg517003

Thank you ....... more than ten years ago I suggested to someone that the Russians were trying to confuse us to death!!   I recall that when they started to name launch vehicles in the launch announcements they would use "Soyuz" whether they meant U or U2, and they rarely distinguished between the two variants for Cosmos launches.

Further to this some Soyuz-U2 were initially allocated Soyuz-U numbers.

Soyuz-U №Т15000-594 became Soyuz-U2 №33, and used to launch the first Don, under the name Kosmos-2031.
