So, when will STS-134 Causeway tickets be on sale through the KSCVC?

I don't see a place on their website to enter the lottery yet.

Took the KSC bus tour to the LC 39 Observation Gantry at 10:00 and then at 10:45 the bus to the Apollo / Saturn V center. Next best thing for not working there I guess. Saw a lot people looking at the orbiter though....  :D
Here are some of the pictures. Not the best quality though.... ::)

Great shots Oystein -- the bus on the left in pic 0115 is our press bus, we're probably in there someplace!

I signed myself and my husband up as well. I put my name in with my senator in January 2010 for launch tickets to STS-134. Does anyone know if they notify the congressional people before the tickets go on sale to the public? I am sure if I get my tickets from my senator I could always sell my tickets that I bought from KSC and at least get my $$ back but I would rather leave those tickets open for someone else if I am in fact getting some from my senator.

Of course this is all assuming I get tickets from anywhere!  ::)

Hi everyone,

First of all, let me say what an amazing website this is.  I discovered it as I was preparing to go to Florida last fall to watch the (ill-fated) Discovery launch.  I relied on NASAspaceflight.com the whole time I was in Florida and was amazed at the quality of its contributors.

Sadly, though, my young daughter and I had to leave Florida without seeing the launch.  While the gods may have conspired against me, I'm seriously considering another kick at the can for STS-134.  My question is this -- can anyone speculate as to whether Endeavour has a realistic shot at leaving on the 19th, or is that something that we'll have to wait a bit more time to determine?  As much as I liked Walt Disney World, I'm loathe to book another flight from Toronto if the shuttle is unlikely to fly.

Might anyone venture a guess.

Thanks ever so much.

Scott

Way too early to tell about the 19th.  That's a realistic goal as of right now - but there's a lot of milestones to go.  No way you can even guess at the weather right now, either.  I'd wait for Discovery to land next week to book flights/hotels just to give a little more room, but flying from Toronto, you might want to start looking at flights.

A lot of people here say "If you're coming for a launch, take a trip to KSC - launch is just a bonus."  But if you wish to wait a while, you can also do that.

As we get closer, we'll get more information whether any issues crop up that could delay launch.

Thanks, Ford.

My daughter and I did visit KSC in November and loved it.  Actually got as near to the launch as setting up our chairs in Space View Park before Disovery was scrubbed!

Off-hand, would you know how many days after the 19th a launch could take place and, if it doesn't, when the next launch window would be?

Thanks again.

Not hearing that on this end yet, but if it's AMS-related, you're in a better position than me.

Keeping fingers crossed that rumor is not correct.

And yes, the registration for KSC launch viewing tickets is open.  I'm keeping my fingers crossed for that too.
I'll even excitedly look forward to "flags and footprints" and suborbital missions. Just fly...somewhere.

Hi people,

A question about the viewing at the Astronaut Hall of Fame. Is the viewing of the launch better then at the visitor center and the space view park in Titusville?
And what about the NASA launch communitary. I have seen somewhere that you can hear it at the space view park, is this the same at the Hall of Fame?
I made my registration for the NASA causeway tickets, but if that not works out i'm searching for the best spot to witeness the launch.

Thanks in advance for your answers.

Yeah i saw that picture and after that the idea came. So that's why i asked the question. I find it a super place to look. You can see it from the ground. I saw Discovery in 2005 from the Visitor Center. Everything is there only it takes a a few seconds before the shuttle is over the trees. I prefer to see it from the ground.

I was at KSC in Feb,but it got postponed for one day, so we just saw it from a parking lot in titusville the next morning. After seeing the above pic, I really think that the hall of fame looks better then the KSC visitor center, as I want to see the big plume. Yet I always thought the Hall of Fame tickets were worse then the visitor center. Guess I was wrong?

well do be aware that the picture is taken from a high angle and the people view from ground level may be blocked by tree lines just like at the VC.

On that basis that the view is in fact similar, the VC is closer.

Any update to the rumor about moving launch to 4/23?  I am trying to plan a trip from Texas for my family to see the launch, only have a week to work with...

NSF doesn't hold news on stuff like that. Plus this is the viewing thread where you talk about camera settings, hotels, etc that don't change with date changes.

Updates to the shuttle processing will be in the thread next to this - the 134 processing thread.
