CT heading to get the STS-131 MLP, which will be used to stack STS-134 next
So I realize that to most this will be a silly question, but the CT is headed to LC 39A to pick up the MLP used for Discovery's recent launch, and will then head back to the VAB where the stacking of STS-134 will eventually occur.  Do I have that right?

Number 1, you are most likely correct.

Number 2, there is no such thing as a silly question! Good day!

Yes.  The other usable MLP is in VAB High Bay 1, where the STS-132 vehicle is being assembled.  This MLP will be going to the other integration cell, VAB High Bay 3.

Good time to bump this article from last month as it contains the 134 vehicle buildup (stacking) information.

And the crawler has gone up to the pad surface to pick up the MLP this morning...the feed from OTV 056 (on the MLP) dropped out at about 0745 local, assume the disconnects were going on then...

Crawler has got the MLP and is on the way off the pad...

Edit: well, it started rolling but has stopped for a while.

You're right -- adjusted and the crawler is moving again.

I understand Gerst is in Holland to review AMS status.  Any idea when we might expect to hear something?

Basically, a slip to November is expected, worst case Feb 2011. Manifest meeting end of week. Will write up what we've got in L2 as it's extensive.

Not the most important consideration, but if STS-134 launches in November or even February 2011, there will simultaneously be Scott Kelly as ISS commander and Mark Kelly as shuttle commander. AFAIK the first case of twins in space.

Do we have any indication on what this will do to STS-132 and STS-133?

I hear they're still juggling balls but soon there should be some news. Give it a few days though.
Of course the variables are Discovery landing site (contingency days for the orbiter processing are a handful, contingency days for the Leonardo modification I think are about zero by now, may be they are already negative...), are the pressure to ship AMS-02 to the KSC versus the pressure for taking the time to get it in the best shape for doing good science at ISS (both pressures are very strong, it goes without saying) and finally the possibility, not yet ruled out, of a STS-135 mission.

Edit: the rumors are that the science people have the upper hand, as I think it is very reasonable to do under the circumstances. Atlantis is well on track and should launch on time; then the likely rearrangement of the manifest can be that 133 flies around end of september and 134 in the second half of November. It is still possible that a 135 mission will fly at the end of december or beginning of january as targeted date, if so it is decided. Such a mission, if approved, of course must take off only after STS-134 is completed.
