Liss, how this compares to the previous missions of this series?

Essentially the same as for Yaogan weixing 2 and 4. Everything is the same except for producer: DFH Sat Co for 2 and 4 vs. CAST for 7. (Can't find out if CAST and DFH both belongs to CASC or DFH is a part of CAST.)

DFH Sat Co is one of the departments of CAST with responsibility for small and micro-satellite manufacture.

Thank you. The strange thing is that for many previous launches Xinhua made clear distinction between spacecraft produced by CAST and by DFH Satellite Co. This time we expected to see a third DFH-built Yaogan weixing 2 type satellite.

An image of YG-7 released at 9ifly (very likely from a launch video) seems to confirm your assumption, because it shows a CAST-2000 like bus, which is built by DFH.

Once more: what's the need to lable several identical Yaogan Weixin satellites with different Jianbing identifiers?
My personal understanding is as follows:
JB-5 CZ-4B Taiyuan SAST SAR YW-1, -3, -8
JB-6 CZ-2D Jiuquan DFH Optical YW-2, -4, -7
JB-7 CZ-2C Taiyuan SAST SAR YW-6
JB-8 CZ-4B Taiyuan CAST Optical YW-5

Interesting close-up images of YG-6 and 7 issued by Xian Satellite Control Center on philatelic souvenir covers. Accidentally the chinese inscriptions seem to be confused.

It is more likely that an image of Yaogan-5 was erroneously used.
