Pre–launch operations for DirecTV-12 launch on a Proton Breeze M launch vehicle continue on schedule. During the last weekend, members of the Khrunichev launch team completed the DirecTV spacecraft general integration with Proton launch vehicle.

During those operations the Space Head Unit (i.e. the DirecTV-12 spacecraft/adapter/the Breeze M upper stage stack encapsulated into the Proton fairing) was integrated to the three stages of the Proton core rocket.

The Proton Breeze M Integrated Launch Vehicle will undergo electrical checkouts throughout the day. The next day the ILV will be made ready for transport to the fuelling station,where the Breeze M low pressure tanks are to be fueled.

The first three stages of the Proton will use a standard ascent profile to place the Ascent Unit (payload fairing, Breeze M upper stage and the DIRECTV12 satellite) into a sub-orbital trajectory. From this point in the mission, the Breeze M will perform planned mission maneuvers to advance the Orbital Unit first to a circular parking orbit, then to an intermediate orbit, followed by a transfer orbit, and finally to a geo-transfer orbit. Separation of the DIRECTV 12 satellite is scheduled to occur approximately 9 hours, 12 minutes after liftoff.

Early this morning, the Proton Breeze M launch vehicle with the DirecTV-12 spacecraft (encapsulated into fairing and wrapped in its protective shroud) was moved from the Proton integration facility to fueling station located at Area 31, where the launcher will undergo final preparations before being moved to Launch Pad 39 at Area 200. These activities include loading of low-pressure fuel and oxidizer into the Breeze M upper stage, which will last within two days. Technical crews (from Khrunichev and Chemical Machinery Design Bureau - “KB TKhM”) have already begun the fuelling operations.

Once the propellant components are loaded, the members of Russian State commission will meet at Baikonur to give authorization for the rollout of the Proton LV to launch pad 39.

That's a typo in the article about Area 31. Should be Area 92. The Breeze M propellant loading is done right outside the LV integration building in a structure the US personnel call the "car wash." Anik posted a great picture of it.

Edit to add - You can see the car wash in the middle picture too, in the background, looking down the length of it.

Yes, you are right. Fueling of high pressure tanks of Briz-M upper stage is performing on area 31. Fueling of his low pressure tanks is carrying out on area 92A (see image from Google Earth below).

I noticed earlier in the webcast that they said there were three operational Proton launch pads. Obviously 81/24 and 200/39 are two (they've been active for some time), does anyone know which other pad is now active. I believe Anik said 81/23 was out of service for maintenance, has this been completed, or has 200/40 been brought back online?
