An article from Wired magazine. Some nice pics of the SS2 in process of being built...
The unveiling should be a good watch.  I wonder how soon the first drop test will be.  Love to see SS2 in free flight.

Stumbled across this article on fox news that they posted earlier in the month and they had a picture of the supposed cockpit of SS2..for some reason it isn't what I was expecting it to be...  I was half expecting two seat for the pilot and coplilot.

It's a mistake, the cockpit is of SS1

Their website looks great, hope they get the business.

Their spaceport site is enough to inspire anyone!
http://www.virgingalactic.com/overview/spaceport/

I'd be amazed though if they could find enough people with all the money to keep the space tourist business going for an extended period of time.

That is where I think Virgin did it right ..from the reading I've done, they made everything big enough so it can be used for not JUST space tourist.  WK2 can be a high altitude heavy lift for other uses..and SS2 looks like a nice size for Sub orbital experiments... great for testing an experiment going to spacestation for 5 minutes rather then 30 second spurts in a "Vomit comet"..
not sure if they got lucky that the market evolved that way or they helped evolve the market.  Either way they may be busy if all goes well with development...
Going to be an interesting next few years...
the pilots flying SS2 may have lots of fun it if it is a nice forgiving craft to fly..time will tell

All this, and two test flights for the Boeing 787 before the end of the year.

By god, the year end reviews of aerospace news are going to be GREAT this year.

Hopefully next year, with it's operational 787s, Masten/Armadillo/Unreasonable test suborbital flights, Virgin Galactic Test flights, Falcon 9 & 1e flights, Taurus 2 test fires, Shuttle launches, Copula at the ISS, new X prizes, will make 2009 look like 2008!

An article on popsci.  Pics are cool but but pretty much 8 identical pics jusyt slightly different views. :)  Now to wait for the press pack for the unveiling... and then the unveiling....What time is the unveiling? 3 pm EST??
I so hope they have new animation for SS2 and that the SS2 is fully complete with seats on the inside.  I still find it hard to see 6 people floating around inside it without running into each other often unlike the current animations...wouldn't want to be the smallest guy on the trip.  :)  Mind you I'd still pay the full fee if i had the money...
jb

edit: BTW I agree with you SpacexULA..one cool end of the year and a fabulous 2010 coming!!!

All this, and two test flights for the Boeing 787 before the end of the year.

Don't forget the potential for the A400M first flight by year end, shame the 747-8i first flight is pushed out until early next year.

Newest rumor on 787 first flight is 12-15-2009.

CNN video:

http://us.cnn.com/video/?/video/tech/2009/12/07/branson.space.tourism.cnn

Yes, a very nice interview. They actually gave Richard Branson some time to talk. Sounds like he's got a touch of the flu, possibly.

One question . . . That's a picture of his MOTHER on the nose of the ship?? (And I guess her name is Eve, so she's the source of the name for the prototype as well?)

Also, I hadn't heard that Branson, his family, his parents, and Burt Rutan are going to be the first passengers. I guess I had heard that Branson himself would go, just not the rest of them. That should be fun. And 18 months of testing, given the explosion in the desert that killed the Scaled Composites personnel, and the fact that the entire 'royal family' will be going on the first non test flight  . . .sounds about right.
